A nice cute little hotel in a very good location. It is very close to many of the tourist spots in athens. They have free breakfast and we liked their food so much. Nadine, their receptionist is very accomodating and very friendly.Me and my hubby stayed there for 5 nights and it was all worth it. We'll definitely stay there again.

I spent some time last week in Athens and stayed three nights at the Hotel Amazon. The best thing about this hotel is definitely it's location! We were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go from here: the Acropolis, First Olympic Stadium, Syntagma Square, Zeus's Temple, Markets and more. There is also a tram stop nearby the hotel, where... A fantastic location close to Syntagma Square,Plaka and within range of the Acropolis. Were guests on 2 occasions during a month trip to Greece in October.2nd stay coincided with the street riots and protests.Nadine the receptionist, not only looked for our arrival, in the midst of the tear gas and rioting by checking out in the street for us, but... The pros: The staff is nice, the location excellent and safe (outskirts of Plaka and just near Ermou and Syntagma). The wi-fi is very good. The price was very good for central Athens. I had a queen size bed, and it was quite comfortable. The cons: The rooms are just too small, even by European standards. The bathroom is small... More

We stayed at this hotel during the transportation strikes in Athens. The hotel was helpful in getting us a private car to take us to the airport to catch our flight to Crete. And the price was the same as a taxi. Hotel was clean, beds great and breakfast had a good variety of food. Plus the hotel was easy... More

My wife and I stayed at the Amazon Hotel in October following the readings of Trip Advisor of economy accommodations in and around Plaka, including Parliament House, Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and National Gardens. The rooms were well appointed with good furnishings and were clean and well kept. The location of the hotel was at the end of a... More

This is excellent value for many reasons (EU33 per night single room rate). Great location about 3 blocks from Syntagma Square and therefore express bus to airport (EU5), Plaka area, main shopping streets, Plaka and Acropolis. On side street so quiet with good aircon and windows that open. Good decor and excellent beds. Bathroom small with normal European semi-circle shower... More

I spent two nights here in October 2011. I would say the hotel is about what I expected for the price (90 EUR/night) in a center of a European city. Nothing fancy, just average service and amenities, decent breakfast and a clean room and bathroom. The bed was quite comfortable and there was almost no street noise at all. My... More

Staying in Plaka

Neighbourhood Profile
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.
