This hotel was alright for a night. The front desk staff weren't overly friendly, snapping when I couldn't understand what part of the check-in form to fill out. The hotel would be in a decent area (between Syntagma Square and the Plaka), however the outside area of the hotel is very dirty with grafitti everywhere and there were policy on...

Not a bad hotel for Athens. Reasonably priced compared to others. Great location for seeing the historical sites in Athens. Good restaurants around so great for vacationing. Lots of small shops if your into that sort of thing

Whilst in a very favourable spot just behing Syntagma Square, the outside of the hotel looks quite seedy. Front desk staff were polite and knew their job but didn't go out of their way to be friendly. The room was typical for an average priced hotel, my window was far too high to see out but then there wasn't an...

I stayed @ Amazon Hotel with my wife and little daughter during the first week of September. Pros: - Excellent location (250 meters from Syntagma Square, walking distance to Plaka, Monstiraki & Acropolis). The street where the Hotel is located is a parallel one to Ermou Street (the biggest shopping area in Athens) - Room is very clean - Open...

I stayed in the Amazon Hotel for one month while based in Athens for a class. Upside: The location is really great. I was within walking distance of everything I could ask for. If you need to go further, the public train is a few blocks away and with that you can easily reach the coast and suburbs. This area...

I stayed in Athens for two nights. The first impression was fine, as the location of the hotel was really excellent and the welcome from the front desk was very friendly. as soon as I stepped in the room, I was a bit disappointed. The furniture was fine but the size of the room was really small. They also must...

We stayed in Amazon hotel for 1 night. Our friends stayed in Achilleas hotel nearby for a similar price but their hotel was definitely better (bigger room with a balcony, bigger lobby). We didn't check elevators in Achilleas but in Amazon the levator is quite tiny, 3-4 people can hardly fit in. Comparing these two hotels I suggest Achilleas. An...

This is an average hotel but it was worth it for the price. Rooms are very standard. I think some were redone but ours wasn't. It's not like we spent any time in our room anyways. It's a very convienent location which is a plus. Just a few blocks to the train station, and a few blocks the other way...

Stayed in Athens for 3 nights at the Amazon. This was our second honeymoon and I wanted something special. Well special it was. We got the best room in the hotel. Room 700 is a suite with the view of the Acropolis. We arrived at night, and this was our first time in Greece. We walked inside our suite which...

Staying in Plaka

Neighbourhood Profile
Plaka
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.
