I stayed in a dorm style room which ended up being a lot better than I envisioned. I wish that checkout was later than 1030 in the morning and that free breakfast wasn't just bread, BUT they had really nice coffee and it was a nice place to sleep so it gets my stamp of approval.

This place is rad as heck. The people here are a bunch of cool twenty somethings hanging out, exploring Athens and themselves through the power of friendship, and eating bread and coffee for breakfast. The place is super cheap, but doesn't feel super cheap. It feels like what staying at college dorms looks like in hipster coming-of-age movies about finding your...

stayed in this place two or three times for couple days. It is rather cheap but it's not bad to stay. You can use kitchen, there are small breakfasts, people who work there are nice! it is really not far from the center and close to the bus stop to go to the airport - sintagma square where they have...

Good location in Plaka and close to Syntygma square but really dirty inside. Breakfast is just toast and the workers are rude. There are better hostels in Plaka that you can stay at. Try to avoid unless it is a last resort.

Don't expect nothing but a good location. Everything is too old and needs to be updated, specially the bathrooms. Breakfast is only bread with some butter and cheap Nutella. It's very different from the photos. On the other hand, there no place better to stay in Athens.

I stayed for one month after trying two other hostels in Athens. I stayed in three different rooms. Location: Very near the Acropolis, 5 minutes from Syntagma, 12 minutes from Monastiraki, and a free walking tour starts just across the road. Being out of the city centre and not a party hostel meant it was nice and quiet at night....

There was nothing really special about this hostel other than the perfect location. If all you need is a place to sleep, it's good but I wouldn't spend more time than needed. The bathrooms really need to be updated, but the rooms were fine and everything was clean. The staff didn't go out of their way to help us, but...

I know the term 'service' and 'hostel' don't always fit in the same positive sentence. The location was great. The Plaka is the best place to stay. We considered staying in Monstraki. But really pleased we stayed in this area instead. Was a great base and easy to pop back to during the day in between touristing. It was very...

The place is easy to find and superbly located. Staff is helpful. Prices are cheap and you actually get (a modest but filling) breakfast for free. There is a lovely courtyard to hang around, eat, read, socialize etc, Its surrounded with greenery and some cats :) Room I stayed in (3-bed female dorm) was very small and modest, with old-fashioned...

Staying in Plaka

Neighbourhood Profile
Plaka
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.
