Although we travel frequently, this is the first hotel review we have written. The staff at this fine hotel went above and beyond all our expectations to make our stay memorable. Athens is fantastic, and these good people helped us with extremely clear directions as well as suggestions for what they recommended that we see during our stay in Athens....

This is a very good place to stay in Athens. It's situated near Acropolis and it was very good to be here and to see center of Athens from here. It would be great to write a way from Dionisiou Areopagitou street to hotel because for the first time almost nobody at the street knew about this hotel.

My wife and I recently spent 3 nights at the Airotel Parthenon hotel in Athens. I choose this Hotel because of its proximity to the Acropolis Museum and the 5th Century Parthenon Temple. Actually this hotel is in one of the quieter district of the city, but within walking distance of most historic monuments one will want to visit in...

Walking distance to Acropolis, acropolis museum, Temple of Zues and many attractions. Next to the Acropoli metro station. Very convenient. Staff is extremely nice and very helpful. Breakfast buffet has a great variety and a nice sitting area. Rooms need an upgrade.

Good location, 3 minutes by foot from the Akropolis, a few restaurants and the metro stop 'Akropolis'. Excellent breakfast, friendly staff, very clean. I got the only room at the 6th floor with a terrace and got help from the very friendly receptionist-sorry forgot your name. Would stay here again!!

Yes, this is not a luxurious hotel. It is a nice, decent, comfortable and clean hotel, with very helpful staff, rich and delicious breakfast, excellent cleaning service, at the best possible location in the heart of Athens. Our triple room was spacious enough, and it was nice for us to have a balcony. Although facing the street, it was very...

Stayed one night and it was more than adequate but the hotel does need a major upgrade. The location is fabulous, the price is right, the staff is very very helpful and friendly and the included breakfast buffet is very good but the rooms are looking dingy and a bit worn. All in all I would be more than happy...

This is not a luxury hotel so my rating is based on value for money. It is in a wonderful location with very helpful staff. The breakfast buffet was constantly being resupplied and was very good (especially as breakfast is not a Greek thing). It is not an elegant building & the carpets have a horrible plastic feel but as...

The hotel is in a fantastic location, the staff were very helpful and very friendly. The only downside was it to me was a little run down and could do with a make over in the bedroom and the mezzanine level toilets were needing to be refurbed especially the tiling on the floor looked very dirty, or maybe it was...

The location of this hotel is incredible. Two minutes from the Acropolis and the metro stationand within a few minutes from most other attractions.....just round the corner from the plaka area but the most outstanding feature of this hotel has to be the staff. The perfect balance of professionalism and friendliness. You are made to feel immediately at home with...

Staying in Thissio / Makriyanni

Neighbourhood Profile
Thissio / Makriyanni
Named after the well-preserved Thission (ancient temple of Hephaestus), Thissio is blessed with a small wooded park and some less frenetic streets that offer numerous quieter places to stay and eat. Largely pedestrianised Apostolou Pavlou Street runs between the Acropolis and forested Filopappou Hill, well worth climbing for more great panoramas, until it merges with Dionysiou Areopagitou Street. This leads to the up-and-coming area of Makriyanni, whose centrepiece is the magnificent new Acropolis Museum. Opposite the museum is the entrance to the southern slopes of the Acropolis, while the eponymous metro station nearby is at the top of Makriyanni Street, another strip of touristic cafés and restaurants.
