Very humble hotel, no luxuries but good. Rooms are big, bed is not too big and too soft. No minibar. Good TV and AC. Breakfast is limited, not much choice, but on 10th floor with beatiful views to Acropolis.
The best is central location. You...More
Our last night in Athens was spent at the Astor Hotel in downtown Athens. The hotel is on a busy street two blocks from Syntagma Square. It's an older hotel and could use some improvements. All the carpets in the rooms (we had three) and...More
I wanted to stay in the center, so that I would be within walking distance of all of the amazing sites of the city. After looking around carefully, I chose the Astor Hotel. It was a good choice.

Clean rooms, hotel staff very helpful. Great location walking distance to a lot of sites. Restaurant has an amazing view and the suppers and breakfast were great. Would recommend getting a hotel with a view it was worth it!
Hotel looks old outside but inside is quite new and nice. The room size is on the average size. Breakfast buffet is quite decent but in the rooftop with nice view over the city and the acropolis which make it worth it
Perhaps the best place to get your bearings is Syntagma Square, crowned by the imposing Parliament building on its upper side and surrounded by other large structures, such as the exclusive Hotel Grande Bretagne. The grand avenues that lead towards Omonia are also full of massive Neoclassical edifices like the Numismatic Museum and those around smaller Platia Kolokotroni. Here you will find lots of travel agents,
bookshops and fashion shops, especially on Ermou Street. Just south of Syntagma Square, you can take a breather in the lush National Gardens, which extend into the grounds of the Zappeio palace and beyond to the ancient Temple of Olympian Zeus.
