The rooms are nice, the restaurants and lobby are beautiful. Our room had a view of the Acropolis, though stunning, it was very loud being along the street. The front desk staff was always smiling and super helpful!

We were very well looked after by friendly and helpful staff at this charming, quiet hotel close to the Acropolis. Our room was well sized with a small balcony, with views of the Parthenon from the roof top bar. Reasonably priced for the location. Would recommend.

Fine hotel with reasonable service in excellent location. Pros: Location! Two blocks from Acropolis Museum, even less for excellent taverna (Gods' Restaurant). Roof-top restaurant, with view of Parthenon (reasonably priced dinner, more expensive drinks, but you're there for the experience of watching the sun set and the Acropolis light up. Fluffy towels. Queen room was larger than might be expected:...

I traveled to Athens on the first leg of a month long study abroad trip with a group from my university. Our tour group picked this hotel for us and we were not disappointed. My friend and I's room was teeny tiny, like shoe box size. We could hardly even open our suitcases on the floor. However, the beds were...

Nice hotel. Centrally located. Wifi was terrible though. Forget about streaming video, or even checking email. In fact, connection was so poor that we couldn't even view simple web pages (e.g. Google) without long lags and frequently getting dropped. It is so useless, they really shouldn't even advertise that they have it.

The Hera Hotel is located in an ideal area, it's within walking distance to the metro station, the Plaka area where you can walk around, shop and eat for hours. The Hera is also within walking distance to the New Acropolis Museum and the Acropolis. The hotel was a pleasant place to stay for our five nights. The room was...

This is a nice hotel but nothing special. Decent clean room. Good wifi. Very good breakfast. Greatest attribute is its location: near the Plaka, Acropolis and its museum and many restaurants. Try the Mani-mani restaurant 100 meters down the street.

We stayed only one night but we enjoyed the hotel. The staff is great, rooms are clean but small, the breakfeast is a good choice and the location is perfect. They have a small parking so it could be difficult to find parking place.

I wish the room was bigger, but it's still nice. The free breakfast buffet was great with varieties of selections. The location is awesome, because it's a couple of blocks from the Acropolis. We only needed to walk to get to the places we want to see and visit. All in all, I think it's a very cozy and comfortable...

If you want to experience all tourist attractions within easy walking distance this hotel is well located--easy to get to from airport with subway stop 1 block north - central to Plaka and Acropolis and most museums with good restaurants near. Rooms are comfortable and the breakfast is more than enough. Service is prompt and friendly. Acropolis view from roof...

Staying in Thissio / Makriyanni

Neighbourhood Profile
Thissio / Makriyanni
Named after the well-preserved Thission (ancient temple of Hephaestus), Thissio is blessed with a small wooded park and some less frenetic streets that offer numerous quieter places to stay and eat. Largely pedestrianised Apostolou Pavlou Street runs between the Acropolis and forested Filopappou Hill, well worth climbing for more great panoramas, until it merges with Dionysiou Areopagitou Street. This leads to the up-and-coming area of Makriyanni, whose centrepiece is the magnificent new Acropolis Museum. Opposite the museum is the entrance to the southern slopes of the Acropolis, while the eponymous metro station nearby is at the top of Makriyanni Street, another strip of touristic cafés and restaurants.
