I'd stay here several more times. Friendly staff and such an amazing location, just two blocks from restaurants and shops and the Parthenon. Rooftop restaurant and bar with a great view and super cute rooms. I really enjoyed my stay here and for the price, you just can't do any better.

Great staff, location and decor. Across the street from the subway, the street is loaded with trendy and inexpensive restaurants, it's also across the street from the Acropolis and its new museum, and there's a self serve laundry mat just steps from the front door. On the negative side, Bed Bugs was problem. Changed rooms and floors night 2 of...

Location and staffs are great! But got over 80 bedbugs bites all over both of my arms the first night staying on the second floor and spent the rest of my European trip suffering from extremely itchy bites and trauma! DO NOT RECOMMEND!

The hotel is in a great location, close to a major metro and within two minutes of the Acropolis museum and the Acropolis itself. Rooms are European small but well appointed. Very helpful staff and a very good breakfasts. This is a great hotel for getting around central Athens.

Service friendly. Check in easy. Off noisy streets so pleasantly quiet. Decor pleasant , what we have come to understand as greek idea of "chic" ?! Buffet a bit nicer then usual. Room amenities ok. Nothing to rave about but ok.

Fantastic and helpful staff -- clean rooms and comfortable bed. Right in the city centre walking distance to the Acropolis and surrounding areas. Beautiful heritage building. Truly a comfortable place hope to continue staying in for many years on business here in Athens. Recommend? YES.

The Hera Hotel is a short walk from the Acropolis Museum, The Acropolis and very close to Plaka - it really is the ideal location to stay in Athens. The Hotel is a family run concern and everyone is so kind and friendly, especially to me, a single woman traveling alone. I look forward to ruturning there again, and thank...

An excellent hotel with excellent location, just a few meters from the Acropolis and the Museum. The service was prompt and answered my needs. Mr. Dimitris at the reception was very warm in his welcome and helpful, We loved his hospitality. The roof top restaurant has good food but limited variety, it does come with a good view of the...

We chose the Hera initially from Tripadvisor and looked at other websites and reviews and couldn't find a better hotel in a better location. Our faith was well placed and we enjoyed our weeks stay. Our room overlooked the Parthenon and we were just a few minutes walk from all major activities. The room was excellent, the service good and...

This hotel has a fantastic location and the suite on floor 5 has a view of the acropolis that is worth every penny. Breakfast is ok, but their are masses of great restaurants and takeaway options. Our favourite was a pasta takeaway we're dinner for 3 was 14 euros. Hotel wifi is great but they limit the bathplugs! This was...

Staying in Thissio / Makriyanni

Neighbourhood Profile
Thissio / Makriyanni
Named after the well-preserved Thission (ancient temple of Hephaestus), Thissio is blessed with a small wooded park and some less frenetic streets that offer numerous quieter places to stay and eat. Largely pedestrianised Apostolou Pavlou Street runs between the Acropolis and forested Filopappou Hill, well worth climbing for more great panoramas, until it merges with Dionysiou Areopagitou Street. This leads to the up-and-coming area of Makriyanni, whose centrepiece is the magnificent new Acropolis Museum. Opposite the museum is the entrance to the southern slopes of the Acropolis, while the eponymous metro station nearby is at the top of Makriyanni Street, another strip of touristic cafés and restaurants.
