This place has a lovely atmosphere to it. It's a very special feeling to wake up early in the morning to the smell of newly baked home made bread, walk down all the stairs (I stayed in one of the rooms on the highest floor) to have breakfast. The building is absolutely beautiful. Inside as well as outside and got... More

I truly enjoyed my stay at the Acropolis House. It had an authentic local feel and was close to everything I wanted to see and visit in Athens. The staff were very helpful, friendly and warm. I had a chance to speak to the owner and we engaged in very insightful conversations about current affairs, politics and history. The breakfast... More

I had a confirmed booking for Acropolis House which I made weeks before my visit. Confirmed. 2 days before I was due to arrive, they emailed me to say that my credit card didn't work (the same credit card I was using all over Europe). And they would cancel my booking if I didn't respond. I emailed them back to... More

The location cant be beat just blocks from Constitution Sq, walking distance of new Acropolis Museum, surrounded by plenty of restaurants and shops. We stayed 3 nights in a small but comfortable room. The entire staff was very helpful.

The friendly atmosphere of Acropolis House is its main selling point. We always felt welcome and the staff were ever helpful. The location is ideal, surrounded by cafes and restaurants, and only a few minutes walk to the main ancient sites of Athens. The breakfast is tasty, too. The only downside was the somewhat old bed, which wasn't particularly comfortable.... More

The location of Acropolis House is possibly its biggest plus, just in the middle from of Plaka and not far from Acropolis itself! A few nice restaurants and bars nearby. We were placed in a room with bathroom on the second floor in the old part of the hotel. You could really see it was a good preserved old building... More

The hotel is in good location perfect for tourist. The staff is very friendly and helpful. the Breakfast is nice and the price too. However the air conditioner was not working as we were expecting. The room was very hot to sleep, we did not inform to the staff because we were only one night.

The hotel is a good location within the Plaka area. It is family-run and everyone is friendly and helpful. Breakfast is included in the price and you have a good selection. It is also clean! As other posts mention you are expected to pay in cash.

This hotel is perfect for tourists, and should be good for just about anyone visiting Athens. The location is close to the Acropolis and Syntegma Square (transport to everywhere including the airport), has a very helpful staff, and breakfast is unsurpassed. On our way out of Athens, we stayed at a B&B near the airport. It would have been more... More

My husband and I stayed here for one night on our recent trip to Athens. It is an interesting old historic house that was turned into a hotel. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The location is excellent - just a short walk to stores, restaurant and historical sights. We stayed in a room with an in suite bathroom.... More

Staying in Plaka

Neighbourhood Profile
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Hotel Acropolis House is a preserved mansion of the last century, in excellent condition. It is consisted essentially of two different buildings together. The oldest of these is a stone manor house about 120 years old and the other is well-built four-floor building of 75 years. In 1965 it was modified to a hotel from the family Choudalakis, which operates since. Generally the hotel is a two star family business with character, providing security and full service to both families, and unique people who respect the identity of the hotel. In total the hotel has comfortable single, double and large rooms for families. The Hotel Acropolis House has a non smoking policy in all areas. Guests may smoke in the terrace of the first floor. Hotel Acropolis House is located at the gates of Plaka having so the advantage of being close to all the interesting places without the disadvantage of the hustle of the people and vehicles visiting the site. It is situated in a stunning location, either for professional or tourist as it is a 10-minute walk from the monument of Acropolis and the New Acropolis Museum, 3 minutes from Syntagma Square and the metro / bus and 2 minutes from the commercial and business center of Athens. Near the hotel there are parking, museums, pharmacies and the tourist information office. The hotel has a breakfast room, which served continental style breakfast very early in the morning for early morning flights (from 07.30 Until 10.30). There is luggage storage and safe for customers. Finally, Hotel Acropolis House has a library, with a rich collection, to borrow books from. This is himself occasionally enriched by the customers. ... more   less
