This has been my third stay at this 4-stars hotel, the first two of them on a business trip and this one on the ocassion of the Athens Authentic Marathon 2014, with my wife. This time, as usual, everything was in accordance with previous expectations, since the very beginning at the reception desk where they (namelly Georges, but also others...

After roughing it in Morocco for a few days, I was relieved to arrive at a clean, modern, Western style hotel in the middle of Athens. Despite the staff's modesty about their English, they were very fluent and very helpful at giving directions and getting taxis. It does feel a little Best Western-ey, but urban at the same time: the...

The Amalia Hotel is a very modern hotel with wonderful rooms. They are roomy and nicely appointed. King Sized bed is firm but with a "thermorest type pillow top" - very comfortable. Bathroom is clean with modern fixtures (both shower and bathtub). Free WiFi with a good strong signal. Consider upgrading to a Deluxe room facing the park. Nice views...

Stayed four nights at this hotel in three different rooms. Service was good and the staff was super. On the fourth and last night in Greece when I returned from a long day, the lady at the desk said "Welcome home" and called me by name. Rooms have mini bar and were exceptionally clean. Hotel is centrally located and is...

Hotel is very conveniently located in the centre of the city. So you can walk to all the tourist destinations like Acropoli, Agora etc. We could also take the metro to the airport from this hotel easily. Hotel room was very clean and well maintained. The roadside room could become noisy. I wish they had more English TV channels. The...

My wife and I stayed here while traveling around Greece and Italy in May. The room was very nice and the balcony was huge. We loved sitting on the balcony which overlooked the National Gardens and Parliament Building. The hotel is centrally located and we were able to walk to everything including Parliament, Acropolis, Syntagma Square, The Temple of Zeus...

Great hotel - rooms are large and comfortable. Modern decor with comfortable lobby lounge. Location could not be better - access to Syntagma Square, Ermou Street - which leads down to the Monasteraki and Plaka areas at the foot of the Acropolis. Metro is right across the street and trams are just up the block. Staff was very attentive and...

This hotel is very well located - 2 blocks from Parliament, across the street from the National Garden, one block above the Plaka area, and the metro is a block away. Staying in Syntagma

Neighbourhood Profile
Syntagma
Perhaps the best place to get your bearings is Syntagma Square, crowned by the imposing Parliament building on its upper side and surrounded by other large structures, such as the exclusive Hotel Grande Bretagne. The grand avenues that lead towards Omonia are also full of massive Neoclassical edifices like the Numismatic Museum and those around smaller Platia Kolokotroni. Here you will find lots of travel agents, bookshops and fashion shops, especially on Ermou Street. Just south of Syntagma Square, you can take a breather in the lush National Gardens, which extend into the grounds of the Zappeio palace and beyond to the ancient Temple of Olympian Zeus.
