A hotel central located in Athens, close to Syntagma Square and the Metro. It is also close the shopping street and many of the nice restaurants at Plaka. I always stay here when I am in Athens. The rooms are nice, maybe a bit small, the bathrooms are good and you get a very good service from the staff. I... More

This was the second time we stayed at the Amalia Athens, and I am happy to say that it was definitely better than the first time. While on our first visit we felt that the service at the hotel left something to be desired, that was not the case this time. We spoke several times with the front desk staff... More

After long, long hours on planes, layovers and jet lag finally arriving in Athens. Then navigating the protocol of Athens airport and falling into our train seats, journeying to our train stop of Syntagma Square. Lugging our luggage from the bowels of the train station into the bright sunlight of Syntagma Square; dazed and confused. With glad heart, we find... More

We stayed 2 nights here at Amalia in September. The hotel is conveniently located within walking distance to Constitution Square (Syntagma), Acropolis, plaka square and metro station. Hotel staff were very helpful, we stored our luggage at the hotel before taking the afternoon train to Kalambaka. Breakfast buffet was a delight with a lot of selection! It’s a typical American... The Amalia Hotel is located in walking distance to the Acropolis, Acropolis Museum, Arch of Hadrian, Temple of Zeus, the National Museum of Archaeology, Plaka, Ancient Agora, Panathenaic Stadium, and directly across from the National Gardens. Modern hotel with many amenities. Their breakfast buffet was extremely good, as was food served in lounge. Only complaint would be size of shower.

I visited the hotel with an excursion with high school some time ago. I was really pleased with the location and the facilities. Staying in Syntagma

Neighbourhood Profile
Syntagma
Perhaps the best place to get your bearings is Syntagma Square, crowned by the imposing Parliament building on its upper side and surrounded by other large structures, such as the exclusive Hotel Grande Bretagne. The grand avenues that lead towards Omonia are also full of massive Neoclassical edifices like the Numismatic Museum and those around smaller Platia Kolokotroni. Here you will find lots of travel agents, bookshops and fashion shops, especially on Ermou Street. Just south of Syntagma Square, you can take a breather in the lush National Gardens, which extend into the grounds of the Zappeio palace and beyond to the ancient Temple of Olympian Zeus.
