The location of this hotel is just perfect. The neighborhood is lovely. The staff was polite and helpful. We stayed in the Superior Room. It was small compared to other Superior Rooms we stayed in but clean and well maintained. And it was easy to get to the Acropolis from here. Definitely staying here if I come back.

Very relaxing intimate place with unusually helpful staff who pay attention to details. Extensive breakfast included. Great location near Syntagma square only 15 minutes away. National gardens very peaceful walk at the square. Also can see famous changing of the guards at 11 am each day with bigger ceremony on Sunday at square. Periscope Hotel definitely had a trendy vibe to it, with its sleek architecture and modern-looking interiors, but I felt none of the haughtiness that sometimes comes with fashionable locations, be it hotels or restaurants. The people at the reception were very welcoming and friendly, and offered advice and tips on the city. Guests are allowed to come take some cold...

We stayed in a junior suite which was very comfortable and equipped with a nice sitting area and big terrace. Front-desk/check-in staff was very friendly. We were quite disappointed though by the breakfast. Choice was quite limited and service poor. Breakfast is served until 10h30 and when we arrived at 10h10 (it was a Sunday morning) we were immediately reminded...

Dear ReizendeRoel, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. While I wish you had a better experience, it is feedback like this that we learn from and use to improve. We work hard to deliver an exceptional guest experience, and it's apparent in this case that we fell short. If you give us a chance to earn...

This boutique hotel is an interesting design throughout. The rooms are small, but very efficient and served us well. The food was available throughout the day and made for nice snacks as well as breakfast. We had fun just sitting in the small lounge and looking through their art and design magazines. It is a little ways from the Plaka,...

I have booked a room in this hotel via Trivago / Amoma. I received a confirmation from Trivago / Amoma, but when I arrived at the reception, they just said the reservation was cancelled because the reservation was not done "properly" by the provider. I was not noticed of the cancellation. People at the reception did not try to call...

Very nice design hotel at the centre of Athens. Nice staff, nice rooms - good value for money. Warm parquet flooring contrasts nicely with the modern design. Beautiful photographs adorn the hotel. Free soft drinks too! Only comment: could do with a few more sockets to recharge devices!! But there was at least one placed comfortably on each side of...

We were very pleased with the Periscope. We would be lying to say the room size was what we were expecting - it was a little small - but it was exceptionally clean and well decorated. The staff were super - our cleaning lady left fresh fruit and local snacks in our room everyday. They treated us like royalty. The...

I stayed at the Periscope hotel for 2 nights. The room was nice, it is a great idea to have a fresh drinks buffet at your disposal in the lobby 24/7. But what I appreciated the most was the kindness and helpfulness of the staff.

Although the Periscope is not expensive in absolute terms, I found it not good value for money. The privileged Kolonaki location is probably the best asset of the hotel, as others have noted. It’s just steps off Patriarchou Ioakim with its delightful shops, cafes and tony Athenians strolling. Lots of fun restaurants and bars nearby. The hotel is clean, has...

Staying in Kolonaki / Lykavittos

Neighbourhood Profile
Kolonaki / Lykavittos
By far the ritziest neighbourhood in town, Kolonaki is home to most of the chic boutiques and designer label stores. Here, the wealthy say no to austerity by dressing in their finest and spending hours in the trendy cafés around Kolonaki Square, sipping the most expensive coffee in Europe. The area also contains a couple of notable museums and cultural institutions, which add to the air of nobility. The leafy upper reaches of Kolonaki transition into Lykavittos Hill, the highest point in central Athens. Climb the paths through its wooded slopes to the tiny chapel at the top, from where you are rewarded with stunning views across the Acropolis to the sea and even the mountains of the Peloponnese on a clear day. The wooden amphitheater up here hosts regular concerts during the summer.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Periscope is a minimal city hotel with an impressive urban architecture, located on a quiet street, minutes away from Kolonaki square. The hotel draws its name from its electric periscope, a fantastic way to visit Athens from a distance! In the Lounge Bar, guests can find a remote control for a periscope located on the roof of the hotel. With a 360 degree range, the periscope's views, which guests select, are shown real time on a big plasma TV. ... more   less
