I stayed 4 nights here on my first visit to Athens. The hotel is centrally located in the Plaka area half way between the atmospheric Monatiraki Square and the central Syntagma Square where the Parliament is. There are also a couple of lively shopping streets nearby, lots of nice cafes and plenty of restaurants. It is an area visited by...

Outstanding hotel for price and service, right in the Plaka. Clean, attentive staff and great inclusive breakfast overlooking the street. Every major site is within a 15 minute walk including the shopping district. The view of the Acropolis from the roof-top at night is gorgeous where you can order your drink and bundle up in a blanket. Would definitely return.

Stayed at the Plaka Hotel for 4 nights bed and breakfast. Hotel is located in the tourist area and well placed for visiting all the major attractions by foot. Room and bathroom were clean and the shower was great. Though typical for Greece the bathroom is more of a wet room. The staff were very nice. Breakfast was varied and...

Dear G-Carlin Thank you for staying with us and for posting your positive experience with details that will help other TA readers to make their decision. The specific agent you booked through has a restriction and penalty when need to cancel. Directly with the hotel it is indeed more flexible. We hope to see you again on a future trip...

We were in Athens for three nights, two at the Plaka then on to Hydra for two nights and back to the Plaka before flying home. We arrived early in the morning and were welcomed at the breakfast buffet since our room wasn't ready. We chose this hotel based on the great reviews and the good rate and were not disappointed! Friendly and helpful staff, always willing to give some advice. Perfect location: in the middle of it all, but very quiet- at least at our side of the hotel which was not facing the street, not sure what it's like at the other...

Staying in Plaka

Neighbourhood Profile
Plaka
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.
