This hotel is in a great location for Athens. You can walk to many places and a metro is only a couple blocks away. The streets all around were filled with restaurants and the square down the street was very active with shops and people to watch. The rooms were very clean and the size was great with normal amenities....

Dear gne4thewkend Thank you for choosing the Plaka Hotel and taking the time to write about us in such detail. I am glad you found everything to your convenience. We stayed in Athens for one night while we waited for our ferry to the islands. We arrived very late and after a long journey were delighted to be greeted by a very warm and helpful staff and the bottle of wine in the room was a nice touch. The room was quite small but was perfect for us with...

Great hotel. Well situated with very helpful staff. Breakfast menu is impressive. We stayed for four nights and plan to return for a couple more at the end of our trip to Greece. The only negative is the travel agent they recommended us to for a car rental. Avoid Adrianos travel agency.

We stayed here on the last leg of a 10 day trip from Venice to Athens. Our Cruise ended here and we wanted to give Athens a few days, so our travel agent found this little gem. Located close to all kinds of fun and very reasonably priced. The staff has been wonderful.

We stayed 3 nights at the Plaka hotel before boarding our cruise ship. We loved the location, so close to many museums and historical attractions. All info given to us by front desk was helpful. Room was lovely with a small balcony. Gorgeous rooftop terrace with stunning views of Acropolis. I would highly recommend.

We chose this hotel following Rick Steve's advice, and we are glad we did. Its location is perfect, close to the major sites, within walking distance. It's clean and basic, but the rooms are bigger than what we had to put up in Paris for more money. The staff is wonderful. Last night we went up to the hotel's roof...

Staying in Plaka

Neighbourhood Profile
Plaka
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.
