The Plaka Hotel is terrific. For tourists like ourselves we found it's location to be perfect--just blocks from the side of the Acropolis close to numerous restaurants and shopping plus ruins to not miss. Also they have a roof top bar to see a beautiful sunset and the Acropolis lit up. We would definitely stay there again. The staff is...

Right from our arrival to our departure 3 days later, this was a great experience. We were celebrating our 30th anniversary and lo and behold, the Plaka Hotel had drinks and chocolates in our room, with a a little gift for my wife too. A lovely thought. The room was lovely and the breakfast excellent, with a great choice of...

We were in Athens at the end of our holiday and what a wonderful choice the Plaka Hotel was. The best hotel we had stayed at on our travels through Turkey and Greece. The location superb for sightseeing and exploring Athens. Small, tasteful and comfortable. Genuinely friendly and helpful staff, from cleaners, restaurant staff and the front desk. We were...

We flew into Athens airport for a 2 night stay before embarking on a 3 week cruise. Easy trip from the airport to the hotel. This is not a large and imposing chain hotel. It is quite compact and right in the middle of the Plaka district. Check in was very good and the staff there were ALL super nice....

Dear Corvette1871 Yes, our location is exceptional and hard to beat, as being next to the Acropolis, archeological sites, museums...plus restaurants, and Ermou main shopping street. I am delighted our "super nice" and professional staff matched your expectations as well as the view from our roof garden "is one of the great memories of your stay in Athens". We truly...

The absolute perfect location for site seeing!!! A surprisingly good breakfast that was included with our room rate. 4 out of our 5 mornings Ava was there at breakfast to help us plan our day and answer any questions we had. On the 5th morning a different woman was there and she was not nearly as helpful. The rooms were...

The Plaka would be an excellent hotel choice for Athens even without the view of the Acropolis from your window and an even better view from the rooftop viewing area. The hotel is in the heart of the Monasteraki district, close to great restaurants, shops, markets, the Agora, and the Acropolis itself. Excellent rooms and wonderful service. Complimentary wine and...

This hotel is in a great location, close to good shopping, wonderful restaurants and some amazing antiquities. The rooms are somewhat small, but that's very common in Europe. It had a fabulous roof-top garden from which you can get a great view of the Acropolis. (See picture) The service was good and the breakfast was included and had a good...

Hotel was as good as all of the reviews said. Location is perfect: close enough to everything in the Plaka, but generally quiet. I would recommend asking for a room that doesn't face Mitropoleos Street as you may hear some noise from the wine bar below. Loved the rooftop bar for a drink and the beautiful nighttime view of the...

Staying in Plaka

Neighbourhood Profile
Plaka
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.
