We had a lovely stay. Hotel is located in the heart of Athens! Very close to Monastiraki station, syntagma square, Akropolis and basically to all the major site. There is a Supermarket around the corner. Good breakfast selection and snack/coffee bar available throughout the day until 530pm at no extra charge. Staff are very helpful especially with our baby. Room...

We stayed for three nights in February to visit the Acropolis and other major sites/museums. It was easy to reach via metro from the airport. Staff were welcoming and each morning during the copious and delicious breakfast offered to help us plan our day. They phoned the National Archaeological Museum to check opening times and discovered they had been altered...

We reached Athens n took the metro from the airport (€18 for 2) and we were pick pocketed just as we got off at the Monastiraki station! ALL our money and credit cards....gone, along with some other stuff! We had only a €2 coin! The staff at Plaka hotel were so very helpful and attentive. Vasilis, bless his soul, gave...

This hotel is fine for those who are more interested in being out and about in Athens, than staying in your hotel room. Bed was comfy and shower was excellent. A 42 minute train from the airport, all major attractions within walking distance. Good value for money.

This little gem was perfect for our 3 night stay in athens . Reason I didn't give it 5 stars as some of the rooms are noisy. However the staff are brilliant and relocated us immediately the following morning. The location is brilliant right in the heart of the action . A short walk from everything. Felt very safe there....

An excellent option right in the heart of the old town and within walking distance of the Roman Agora, Ancient Agora, Hadrian’s Library, Kerameikos Cemetery, Acropolis and Olympeon. In fact , the hotel pretty much backs onto the Roman Agora with the Tower of Winds on one side, and Athens Cathedral on the other. Syntagma is a three or four...

We had room #307. It was basic, although categorized as a superior room. It did have a balcony. Maybe that was why. Twin beds pushed together, a desk, a small fridge, bedside tables, and a closet were provided. Everything was very adequate. Not so crazy about the tub/shower. It was easy to lose control of the hand held shower head,...

Staying in Plaka

Neighbourhood Profile
Plaka
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.
