Neighbourhood
Plaka
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.

More than adequate. Very helpful staff. You can walk to anything in the city worth seeing from here. Be sure and get a room with the view of the Parthenon Certainly lots of hotels with this view but I think this is a great price point.

We stayed here in August and our first experience when we got there was realizing my husband had lost his passport between the airport and the hotel (think it was left on the plane) everyone at the Plaka hotel was super amazing and immediately helped us call the US embassy and

Contact by mail the hotel directly. Request and they will definitely try to match it your expectations. Even if you get the 5th or 4th floor is as nice as the 6th floor.

The last time I visited (September 2017), the Plaka Hotel did not have an evening dining room. A very generous breakfast buffet is included in your room rate during the morning and complimentary coffee/tea/hot chocolate/water and biscuits are available through out the day until 5:30 pm....at which time a delightful roof top terrace bar opens. The roof top terrace provides one of the most spectacular views of the sunset over the City of Athens and of the illuminated Acropolis. There are so many restaurants within walking distance of the Hotel that offer an array of traditional and contemporary Greek cuisine, as well as vegan, European, and international fare, from super-cheap to fine dining.
