Detailed Reviews
The hotel was perfectly positioned in the Plaka area of the city. Central to most of the historical sites.
The rooms were comfy, no kettle, but tea and coffee available from the end of breakfast until 6.00pm in the breakfast room / indoor bar area. A couple of days we bought a piece of cake from one of the lovely bakeries nearby to take back and sit in the bar with a cup of coffee.
Unfortunately on day 3 of our week, we were informed at breakfast, the Covid19 lockdown occurred. All attractions, bars, restaurants and most shops closed.
The reception were very good letting us know what was still open and providing a list of restaurants that were doing a take away service.
The hotel bar was still open in the evening, and the lovely lady serving kept us informed of any relevant information.
Each day for the rest of the week, it gradually got quieter (only 10 rooms occupied by the last day).
Even though it was quiet, the breakfast service remained as good as ever, with fresh eggs being made almost to order. Compliments to the the lady chef who made the best breakfast eggs I have had in a hotel !!
On check out day we were able to use the room until 1.00pm at no extra charge. The cases were put in storage for us while we went out to get lunch. Then were able to use the bar area until time to leave.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to stay centrally, and be able to walk to most attractions.

The Plaka district is where restaurants, hotels and historical places are located. It is also within walking distance of the Acropolis (hilltop) and Parthenon (historical temple dedicated to the goddess Athena). The Plaka hotel is situated in the heart of the Plaka district. The hotel has a rooftop bar (undergoing renovations but still open to sit and enjoy the view of the Acropolis and Parthenon (bring your own drink). Staff of the hotel are friendly, helpful and efficient (they also have a good sense of humor). The buffet breakfast has hot and cold dishes including breads, salads, fruits, eggs, sausages/bacon, toast and a host of cakes, cheeses, and specialities of the hotel. Tea, coffee and cookies are available throughout the day. The superior rooms, which we had, overlook the street below but there are rooms which overlook the Parthenon. Rooms we felt were quite inexpensive for the size, location and great buffet breakfast. The hotel is a three minute walk for the Monastiraki metro station and a five minute walk from the Syntagma Metro which also connect from the international airport within an hour. The Monastiraki square outside the station is a popular gathering place for locals and tourists with many shops and restaurants. Hadrian's library and the Roman Agora are also within minutes of the square. All in all, this is a really good hotel in an excellent location, with great staff and a really excellent breakfast buffet.

Stayed for 3 nights with my daughter . Hotel is excellent location , central to all attractions and areas . We walked all over Athens from the hotel as everywhere is fully accessible within 30 minute walk maximum. We got the bus from the airport to Syntagma square last stop which is max 10 mins to hotel. On return we went by metro from Monisteraki a 5 min walk and metro was really efficient bang on time and took 40 mins as stated direct .The view of Acropolis from hotel rooftop is breathtaking especially at night and walking around it again seeing the Parthenon up close after 27 years was no less wonderful the second time. The Ancient Agora being virtually on the doorstep was fantastic place to be, to wander around and take it all in in the lovely weather we had. A walk to Kolonaki then up mount Lycabettus rewarded you with the most amazing 360 degree views of Athens to the coast .The hotel bar is a lovely place to have a drink reasonably priced in line with other rooftop bars nearby. We did not have an evening meal there as wanted to eat in traditional tavernas in Plaka . I cant rate all the staff at the hotel highly enough , customer service is excellent from the reception, bar staff , breakfast staff to room /housekeeping . Breakfast choice was best ever had in a Greek hotel and very tasty and plentiful. The location being right at heart of tavernas, bars and shops can be noisy but double glazed doors shuts out sufficiently. I specifically chose the location /hotel as wanted to be able to walk at night and feel safe which as two females we did.as so many people around . However as in any city you need to be very conscious of our personal belongings and where you go. There are some rough and ready bits same as any city . Our room was very clean and towels changed daily, shower was great pressure and very hot water. Bed was very comfortable too! I would most definitely recommend the Plaka hotel and will stay there again.

We enjoyed our week at the Plaka Hotel. Our rooms were a modest size, but light and airy due to the large windows. The bathroom was a good size with a comfortable shower, not too cramped. Housekeeping was excellent, and all the staff that we interacted with were pleasant, welcoming, and helpful.
Breakfast was tasty with nice options but quite crowded if you are eating at a popular time. Finding seats was occasionally difficult. When we had an early tour and ate as soon as breakfast opened we had much better seating options and nothing was unavailable in terms of beverages in the coffee machine, etc.
The hotel is located with a beautiful view of the Acropolis, and it was an easy walk to many Plaka attractions and walking tour meeting points.

Dear EileenM231, We really like to ensure that our guests are comfortable and are able to benefit from a relaxing break with us and so I was delighted to read that you were happy with your room, the service you received from our housekeeping staff, as well as our central location. As for the crowded breakfast area sometimes it happens, it depends on the completeness of the hotel, however the aim of our staff it to provide the very best to our clients. We hope that we will have the pleasure of welcoming you back to the hotel in the near future. Kind regards

We stayed at the Plaka Hotel for seven nights. We like to be centrally located, so we can walk to restaurants, bars and historic sites and this was perfectly located! The linens were clean and soft. The bathroom and bedroom were clean and comfortable. Our stay was Dec 29- into Jan, so we used the heating overnight. It had clear instructions and worked well. We were not on the Acropolis side of the building, but we had a beautiful view of the town from our 3rd floor window. The hotel offers a complimentary breakfast. I expected a small offering of pastries and coffee, but it was actually a buffet with seasonal fruits, pastries, breads, fresh juice, olives, tomatoes, sliced meats, cheese and more! The hot items changed daily to include beans, scrambled eggs, bacon, and two coffee machines for espresso or filtered coffee. All guests were required to wear masks and gloves at the buffet. Staff were friendly and helpful! Staff greeted us from the desk, in the hallways, at breakfast.

Great location, 10-15 walk to Acropolis and Ancient Agora, multitude of restaurants and shopping. Definitely stay in the Plaka area but off major streets.
Front desk staff speaks wonderful English, efficient with check in and out, and are very helpful with recommendations for eating, shopping or other needs.
Amazing view of the Acropolis from our 4th floor window.
The room is unremarkable. Softer bed (for a change) and good pillows. Water pressure is very fast. The first morning I turned the shower on full pressure as most hotels have average or low pressure. The water came out so fast, the shower head rotated on the holder, spraying me in the face on its way up to spray the ceiling! Not very soundproof. By 7-8am, the noise from adjacent rooms, including above you, will wake you up. I think a lot of the noise was from the maid. She worked very fast, did a good job and worked early in the day-maybe a little too early. She was cleaning our room when we came back from breakfast one day then actually came in the room without knocking while we were showering the next day (9am).
Decent breakfast, hot and cold items.

We stayed at the Plaka Hotel for a short break at the end of March. The location is absolutely perfect ….all main sites within easy walking distance as well as a huge selection of restaurants close by, and a rooftop bar (also serving food) with views of the acropolis….lovely when lit up after dark.
We booked an economy room which was small but perfectly adequate, with comfy bed, safe, fridge, hairdryer and plenty of toiletries provided. Our room was serviced every day by very friendly and efficient housekeeping staff.
Breakfast was delicious with a very good selection quality food available.
The staff at the hotel were very helpful and friendly and we felt very safe with the covid procedures in place.
Thank you for making our stay so lovely….we would definitely return if we visit Athens in the future !!!!

This hotel has very nice rooms, excellent breakfast and employees that are very happy to help in any way for reservations, directions and sightseeing. A BIG plus is that it is about 150 meters from the Monostracki metro stop and is on a direct route from the airport train to Monostracki station. The square is a center of activity. The hotel is a 20 minute walk, all uphill, to the Parthenon but there are sights to see along the way. Easy walking distance to the Plaka center.

We could not have picked a better spot to spend our 5 day break in Athens, the hotel Plaka has a fantastic central location, each & every staff member has customer service in bucket loads. From the welcome at reception to the consideration of the cleaning staff. There are other larger hotels in the vicinity but if you want a warm welcome and a roof top view of the Acropolis then this is the hotel for you. A personal greeting every morning from a member of staff in the breakfast room asking whether there was anything that they could help us with and a hearty breakfast to set us up for the days sightseeing. Some great restaurants and wine bars, close by and a mini market to pick up water and snacks for your fridge. Linen & comfort of sleeping great. One small issue with our shower, but really no bother to us. We were very lucky to escape the lock down so had the full Athens experience. Thank you to all staff members, we hope you are able to open again soon, as we would definitely come back for a second trip.

We have been staying at the Athos hotel in the heart of old Athens mid summer for many years. This is usually at the beginning and end of our Greek holiday.
All I can is that we are consistently treated here like family when ever we visit.
Nothing is too much trouble and the rooms on the fifth floor are very comfortable with great views of the acropolis .
Plaka is a great relaxing area to start and end any Greek holiday . It is within easy access from the airport . It has many restaurants and museums and antiquities to see.
Highly recommended.

I suppose so, as long as a wheelchair fits the elevator. The elevator is somewhat small, though.
Yes, they do provide luggage storage
We also took a taxi from the airport. There is a taxi stand and the ride is a flat 40 Euro.
When we visited in March the rooftop bar opened between 18.00 and midnight …. Reservations could be made at reception. I believe sun sets at around 19.30 at the moment.
No it is not necessary anymore to provide covid testing to stay at the hotel.
