great hostel in many ways. your classic backpackers place and done up quite cool downstairs. the rooms are normal for bunk dorm rooms, clean beds, comfortable linen and clean bathrooms with good showers. the roof top bar is what makes this place great. with views directly onto the acropolis it is a perfect way to see athens from above. great...

The location was fantastic but the bathrooms make my blood curdle to this day. I stayed here on two occasions - before and after a Busabout tour of the Greek Islands. My first experience was slightly traumatising because it was my first ever time staying in a hostel. When I first arrived the bed appeared slept in and there was...

The location is perfect, right near the main square and walking distance to the main sites. The rooftop terrace bar is a big bonus with views to the acropolis. The rooms are small but light and airy. The breakfast was a bit of a let down being very basic but it's free so that's not so bad.

a cheap solution in a very handy area, round the corner from Monastiriki. clean and tidy very home style breakfast - would expect some travellers to be disappointed with this but at the end of the day it's got what it takes to get you going. would strongly recommend to take the morning walking tour - organized by some university...

AthenStyle was exactly what we needed for our stay. It was a perfect base camp for exploring Athens - right beside one of the main squares and very easy/direct to get to from the airport. (€8 euro train then a 2 minute walk!) Hostel itself had a great lobby area by the reception with wifi to hang out in and...

You can't beat the location of this place, just a short walk from monastiraki square and the metro with great views of the acropolis from the rooftop bar. Staff were friendly and although the breakfast was very basic it was included so can't complain. Rooms were clean and had a nice little balcony, however air con didn't work so it...

This hostel is great for location (right opposite Monastiraki squre and 2 min walk from metro), the views from the rooftop bar are fantastic, however the hostel itself isn't anything special. Very difficult to meet new people (very little social events organised) and despite having a bar, it closes very early and people have to keep the noise down. There...

Summary: it's like sleeping in a vending machine. No soul. Hard and plasticky Location: Close to all major attractions. Walking distance to bus stop. No big grocery store nearby, just corner stores that charge 1 euro for a .20 euro bottle of water. Facilities: everything is geared for maximum profit. No sense of what hostelling is about. Even the shower...

It is literally a two minute walk to monastiraki square, and an easy walking distance to all the essential destinations - the Ancient Agora, Acropolis, Roman Agora; Hadrian's Library is literally right outside. A lot of cheap and good foods nearby too, and it's so close to the shopping street that you'd literally never gets bored. Amazing rooftop bar with...

Was here this May for 4 nights. The location is really great as it is very close to the Monastiraki metro station and a 5 minute walk from the ancient agora entrance. For the nights, Gazi is also close. The hostel organises a free walking tour everyday and it was a great experience- Pluto the guide is really fun and...

Staying in Psirri / Gazi

Neighbourhood Profile
Psirri / Gazi
Side-by-side neighbourhoods Psirri and Gazi provide some of the city’s prime nightlife. The almost claustrophobic streets of Psirri feature an interesting blend of original small businesses with the restaurants, cafés and bars that have recently sprouted up. The central artery of Agion Anargiron Street has lively places to eat or drink. Further west, you can visit the peaceful ancient cemetery of Keramikos, then cross busy Pireos Street to find yourself in Gazi. With the huge Technopolis performance and art complex converted from old gasworks at its heart, you really have to come at night to appreciate this maze of bars at its best, although a daytime stroll will allow you to admire the excellent street art.
