Location is away from attractions. 2-3 local restaurants within walking distance. Wifi only good in the lobby. Walls not soundproof so u can hear shower in the next room and as guests come in through the night. 24 hr concierge onsite and so u feel secure as lock the door at night and they let u in.

I enjoyed my stay at the Hotel Grande Rio. The staff were incredibly helpful and very friendly. The rooms were nice as well, but the noise from the hallway was not sound proofed whatsoever, so you could hear people coming in and out all hours of the night. Plus the Wifi was very faint in the rooms - the reception...

+ Very friendly and serviceminded reception and breakfast staff. Received a lot of great advice and directions upon check-in - without even having to ask :o) Always smiling and ready to help. Small 24h open "shop" in the reception with soda/beer/chocolate/chips/wine. The breakfast area is small but cosy. Breakfast is EUR 4 and you have all the essentials for a...

All good, clean, nice personnel, good continental breakfast and close to metro station for one night; was a bit of noice in morning with corridors or hallways. On street that goes right down to Porto's centre making easy to find way back on foot.

I stayed at the hotel Grande Rio for two nights in May and the in general I had a positive experience. Quality is ok for the price paid. Definitely not for the people who want to stay in a fancy hotel. The rooms are quite old, however you have all the necessary things inside: beds are comfortable, shower and toilet...

Nice enough hotel close to metro and centre of city. Staff ok. Parking the hire car a challenge at night. Cereals juice hot drinks average quality cold meat and cheese for breakfast. Shower ok wifi. Does the job for a decent price. Not much around at night for a final drink.

Stayed at the Hotel Grande Rio on a recent one night visit to Porto. The hotel is about a thirty minute walk from the river but there is an Underground Station just around the corner and there is also free street parking outside the hotel. We had a double room which was compact and the the toilet/shower room was even...

This is a small family run hotel approximately 5 minutes walk from Faria Guimaraes metro station (line 'D', the yellow line). The area on arrival looks a bit run-down, but this shouldn't put you off as it's fairly quiet and all the Portuguese people who we met were incredibly friendly and helpful. Note that most local facilities close at around...

The hotel is near by the metro station (about 5 minute walk) and the square Avenida Aliados (about 20 minute walk). Room was small but clean, bathroom was good too. There is also small terrace, where you can sit. Staff was nice and friendly, neighbourhood is not so nice, but it's just small minus. The only one problem was the...

The price of this hotel is cheap for a close location to Porto. The reception is manned 24/7 which was great as our flight got us in at 12.00 The 4euro breakfast was basic but worth it. The room however was very cold so had to have the heating on whenever we were in the room and whilst sleeping. Bathroom...

“We were on the top floor just over the hotel door. We did not use the air conditioning but kept the window open. There was some street noise especially when the buckets were emptied but we learnt to sleep through it. When we first arrived the church bells were chiming every quarter but we soon discovered that they stopped in the evening, not quite sure what time, and didn't start agian until 9.00 am, a goog alarm clock if you have the window open. We did have the window shut one night and didn't hear anything.”
