We last stayed here 9 years ago and nothing has changed except our tastes and expectations. The hotel certainly hasn't. First, the good points. Location! However, we did pay extra for a ' deluxe 'room where the beds were large and comfy, a roomy bathroom with timed lighting and toiletries. I appreciate they wish to retain olde worldly charm BUT...

The outside looks really crummy but stepping through the doors, you are met with a stunning tiled lobby, all be it a little run down and flaking. The whole place is like this, stunning and falling apart slightly. Our room 203, was lovely and large with 2 big windows onto the street, 2 beds - 4ft & 4ft6in and a...

Room tired, dirty, dusty, sad, needs a lot of attention, just terrible. Location is the only plus. There are plenty of hotels much cheaper and so much better could not recommend this hotel ever.internet only in a common room!

Very convenient - a few minutes from the main station. We booked in advance and then required rooms one night early, so had to make do with the last two available. Do not stay in Room 210, or you may lie awake all night, as I did, considering whether you had ever in your life stayed in a worse room...

Very close to Sao Bento station, this hotel offers the opportunity to have a good quick view of Porto if you can only stay over one night. It is close to all, takes you back in time in its art deco interior, and back into prices. We have never stayed anywhere cheaper where breakfast was included as well and rooms...

Third stay and once again it was very good. Don't expect 5* luxury because you are not paying those prices. Its clean its in a great location and it great value for money. Staff are very helpful and breakfast is really good. I would have no hesitation to stay here again

Old hotel near the railway station. Apart from the many dust on the mirrors the room was clean. Given the size and furniture the room is only suitable for sleeping. That was allright, because we wanted to discover Oporto as much as possible. But the creaking double bed in room 317 was quite narrow and unfortunately also too short, even...

False advertising to describe the room I was given as deluxe. This room would be considered well below par in most hotels. I wasn't expecting a gem, but I hoped deluxe would mean that everything worked. However, if I come to Porto again guess where I will stay :) The bed was on the hard side. I have stayed here...

We were travelling without an itinerary or reservations and found this after we had already booked and paid somewhere else. We stayed here our second and third night, however, as we just loved it. Old style, with original interiors and exceptionally helpful staff. Breakfast was included and above average. Rooms a good size and bathroom better than in some more...
