Stayed at this hostel for only one night on purpose as in Porto I was en route to Coimbra so could only spend a night there. The room was immaculate and spacious (stayed in the female 8 bed one). All the areas were super clean, breakfast fine and the location couldn't been better. I arrived there at 1am and felt absolutely...

As I was doing my first "on-m-own-trip" I was very nervous how it's going to be. My first stop was in Garden House Hostel and I could not imagine having a better start than I had here. The rooms are big but also cozy, very clean and the service there is just awesome. The people working there are very helpful...

Liked : - Good location. - Quiet at night (had a room at the back facing the courtyard, on the 2nd floor). - Not a party hostel but a sociable place, had a nice chat over breakfast with some other guests. - Clean bathrooms. Disliked : - Wifi is really bad. For the first 1,5 days it didn't work at...

Great location, 10 mins walk to Sao Bento train station. Room is very clean with air condition. Hostel is well maintained, kitchen has everything you will need. Can get pretty noisy at night if the staff didn't try to keep the guests' volume down at reception area.

Absolutely nice hostel, very central but peaceful. Nice garden and functional kitchen. Guests are very mixed and the atmosphere very nice. The rooms spacious and very clean. Only negative Point: the signal of the wifi is not strong enough in the rooms on the 3rd floor.

The hostel has an excellent location and that's it. I was furious to find out the barhrooms were mixed, which I didn't know before and wouldn't have chosen this particular hostel had I known. The building is beautiful and very nicely decorated, but the walls are thin as paper, you can hear every sound, so I couldn't sleep. Also, the...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Garden House Hostel is a new hostel in Oporto. Located in the heart of the old city, in the famous Rua de Santa Catarina, a pedestrian street where you can feel the Oporto essence, visit a wide range of restaurants, shops and cafes, as the well known "Cafe Majestic", an Art Nouveau icon where artists and intellectuals meet for a "cimbalino" (expresso). Also within walking distance are all the museums, Port wine cellars, the Douro River and the cool Oporto nightlife. After a day of walking and sightseeing, nothing feels better than returning to the beautiful 19th century house where the Garden House Hostel is installed. The building has been fully restored and improved, with all the modern commodities, and has a wonderful garden where you can relax, have a glass of wine, read a book... feel at home in a cozy, warm and friendly atmosphere! From the Hostel you can catch the riverside tram to the sea and the beaches at "Foz". With its restaurants, bars and promenade, you can enjoy the sun in one of the iconic places of Oporto. In the summer don't forget to pack your sunscreen and beach towel! ... more   less
