This boutique hotel has been converted from a theatre- and it shows everywhere. It is very low lighted and little spotlights everywhere. Very unusual and maybe not to everyones taste. I thought it added to the ambiance well. Very comfortable, very different, although service at the bar could possibly have been quicker. Enjoyed it

We stayed in Porto at The Teatro for 6 nights in October. Everything I read on Trip Advisor was right on the mark. This well located hotel is DARK, the rooms are cozy but the hallways are down right black! The front desk was amazing suggesting restaurants and booking reservations, super! The rooms while on the dark side have a...

On first impressions the decor being dark brown is a little lacking in light levels and this is consistent throughout. However it is a modern boutique hotel and with some aspects of the interior design very unique it was a pleasurable experience. The reception staff were faultless and all spoke excellent English. We used them as concierge and they advised...

Everything was great and perfect. People were very friendly. The room and the hotel in general was very nice and clean. The breakfast was excellent with a lot of choice. The restaurant was also very very good. The situation of the hotel is very good, near bus station, near metro station and near all cities activities.

A quirky but classy hotel. We enjoyed every minute of our stay. Great staff, superb room, top class restaurant. All at a very reasonable cost. We have visted Portugal many times and stayed in a number of different types of accomodation. This is without doubt, one of the best. We cannot recommend it highly enough.

The hotel building was nothing to write home about but once you're through the doors it's another world. Low lights, curtains, and everything brass, copper or brown. Very well done. We paid the extra for a suite and it was well worth it, given the bad weather. We got a separate sitting area, as well as a huge bath and...

I just loved everything about this hotel! It is modern, well located, comfortable, charming... It was a great choice for our vacation! But the best thing about the hotel is the staff. All employees are so nice, gentile, receptive and always ready to help us with a big smile. Breakfast is really good and the restaurant is fancy and cozy....

From the moment we stepped in, the front desk attendant was rude/arrogant. The internet passcode did not work on multiple devices -- when I asked why I couldn't log in with another device, I was asked why I needed 'additional' Wifi passwords -- as if I was supposed to beg to use the internet on my phone in addition to...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Hotel Teatro arose from the spot where the Baquet Theatre was inaugurated in 1859. A hundred and fifty-one years later, the unique, refined and bohemian environment of the Theatre has been revived here in a hotel. The Reception represents a box office, where each guest receives a ticket to access their room. The Restaurant and Bar have become the new Palco and Plateia, offering creations for a discerning palate. The inner courtyard is a versatile garden or a quiet and secluded haven from the tumult of the city. The 74 comfortable rooms and suites are colored in gold and bronze, and the gym on the top floor transforms the Hotel into a true arena for action and relaxation. ... more   less
