We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Toural. The location is great to walk to many restaurants. All the staff were super friendly and they served a delicious breakfast. Our room had a little balcony with a great view of the Basilica. There is a nice courtyard to sit and have drink, The room and all areas of the hotel were very clean. The furniture in the room is a little dated and bed a bit hard, but otherwise a very comfortable, convenient and reasonably priced place to stay when visiting Guimaraes.

Nice hotel, very well located in the historic district. There were enough electrical outlets for my husband and I to each use our CPAP machine. For us this detail was very important, because we met on our way hotels that only had one electrical outlet and not next to the bed. We had trouble parking. Nice policemen helped us. Their lunch served at the table is delicious, lots of choice and all you can eat. All the staff at the property are very kind and helpful. Guimaraes will have been one of our most beautiful cities that we have visited in Portugal. Small detail for those who have never been to Europe. If you enter your room and the electricity is not working, look at the entrance to your room (inside the room), there should be a small box, put your room card there and push a bit and the electricity will work. Do not forget to take it back before leaving the room. We discovered this at this hotel. Many hotels operate this way.

Definitely recommend this hotel but DO NOT book via Booking.com (see below reasons), go direct to hotels website.
Staff at the hotel were outstanding, particularly the breakfast and reception (& bar) team. Hotel is in a great location for all the local shops, restaurants and attractions (the hidden entrance makes it difficult to find on day 1), it’s clean, and rooms a great size.
If you're a light sleeper, take ear plugs, seemed to be a lot of early morning slamming, screeching etc.
The reason I recommend NOT booking via Booking.com and go directly is because it’s a ‘partner offer’ scheme on Booking.com which basically it means you won’t be able to speak to anyone if you need to, as you’ll be passed from pillar to post. I tried to telephone Booking.com from Portugal and was cut off twice, when I got through was told it’s a ‘partner offer’ so need to speak to them, no contact details anywhere, ended up messaging their Facebook page and was told I needed to speak to the hotel (which I already had). Due to personal reasons we needed to cut our trip short 2 days and although the hotel were very accommodating and happy to accept the cancellation, no surprise we didn’t get any refund from Booking.com.

We stayed 2 nights at this gem of a hotel. It’s a charming small hotel tucked away in the Toural square, walking distance from all sites, restaurants and bars. Although the hotel faces the square the entrance is from the back off a side street just across the fountain in between a cafe and music Centre. There is parking on the side street with electric charging stations as well.

Check in and out was handled efficiently by Marta who was extremely polite, friendly and of great assistance. I applaud the entire staff on their professionalism, friendliness, efficiency and being helpful at all times. Our room on the 2nd floor was a good size with a big bathroom, minibar and safe. The view on the square was nice. Breakfast is really good, I specially enjoyed the fresh orange juice! The kitchen and bar staff are amazing as well. The atrium, bar and sitting areas are a nice place to relax in.

We stayed here at the recommendation of a friend and I will highly recommend it to everyone. Loved it!

This is a very well located hotel in the old town of Guimaraes. The front desk staff were very helpful with a lot of good local suggestions. The hotel itself is a little dated, the rooms need to be refurbished to bring them to a modern standard. The bathrooms and air conditioning in particular need to be addressed.

A pleasant hotel with helpful and very gracious staff. It is very difficult to find this hotel, so once you get in the general area, ask a local for directions (the last 100 meters is the trickiest part).

Some rooms can be noisy due to proximity to the elevators or the automatic entrance door. Ask for a room away from these problem locations.

Very nice breakfast with extraordinarily courteous and professional wait-service.

I would happily return.

The most helpful staff we’ve ever encountered, nothing was too much trouble . Breakfast was a real joy, no buffet to manoeuvre just sit and have excellent service and a very good breakfast. The only problem we had was finding the entrance , it was raining so it made it a little more difficult , an extra bit of signage would do wonders . All in all a superb stay . Well done staff .

I visited Guimarães to visit family and Hotel Toural provided the most comfortable, most central offering.
Reception staff couldn't have been more helpful on my arrival, helping me with secure parking for my motorcycle. My room was gorgeous and comfortable, overlooking the historic Toural Square.
Throughout my stay, the staff team were kind, helpful and courteous, and each day my room was made up beautifully.
Wouldn't hesitate to come back!
