A little magic in the mountains. 20 mins approx out of Braganca but so worth the extra trip. Montezinho is a small hamlet with just 38 people. The stay at Casa da Edra was the highlight of our month long trip. Anabela and her Aunt, Mariana, are the most gorgeous, hospitably people we have ever met on our travels. All...

Other people have already described the lovely house and great food but for me the outstanding thing about Casa de Edra is a welcome and attention throughout the stay that is truly rare. Nothing is too much trouble, smiles are constant on the faces of Anabella and aunt Mariana. Breakfast and dinner are times to laugh and discuss plans and...

In one of those locations you could call "the end of the world" there is a pearl called Casa da Edra. Besides the wonderful setting and extremely clean rooms, Anabela and her aunt's friendliness make the experience amazing. One feels right at home. Certainly worth staying at and repeating several times.

Anabela and her aunt Mariana are major attractions here. They couldn't have been more helpful. Casa de Edra is a design triumph, being beautifully modernised inside without detracting from its a very rural setting. The only downside is the tiny size of the well-equipped and quiet rooms. Montesinho is a little village off the beaten track and 1,000 metres up....

My wife and I were travelling in Montesinho coming from Canada and we had late lunch at Casa da Edra. In spite of it being late (around 3.30 PM), we immediately felt welcome and like we had the owner's (and also hostess's) attention. The appetizers - traditional local bread and an amazing homemade Chestnuts and Presunto (prosciutto) paté were unbelievably...

We received a warm welcome and were treated extremely well by Annabella and Mariana. Annabella, who speaks exceptionally good English, was a mine of information and her aunt, Mariana, served up delicious dinners in their small restaurant. They also sell all forms of local produce, many of which you get a chance to try at breakfast. Montesinho is a remote...

What a special jewel of a place tucked away in the very tiny village of Montesinho in the Parque Natural de Montesinho. About a 40 min. drive from Puebla de Sanabria, Spain to the north and about the same from Braganca, Portugal to the south. Anabela is the perfect host! She also speaks English beautifully. And the rooms, although quite...

Off the beaten track for some travellers..... and a good thing too if you want to appreciate a warm Portuguese welcome from Annabella and family. A largish B&B, La Casa nevertheless retains all the homely charm of what B&Bs traditionally used to offer. The breakfast is copious and delicious, as is the evening meal, and we still have some of...

A small hotel perhaps rather than a B&B - on the cusp between the two. In the traditional hillside village of Montezinho near the natural park of Montesinho - very pretty village and surrounds, right up in the 'top right hand corner' of Portugal. About half an hour's drive up from Braganza and 5km from the Spanish border. A very...
