We have been in Braga for the last few nights coming to see the famous Glasgow Rangers play Braga in the Europa league, and we have had a great time.

We chose the hotel in booking.com for it’s proximity to the town centre and have been very impressed; the staff have been lovely - very attentive, very helpful and happy and smiley - just what’s needed.

Special mention to the oh so smiley breakfast waitress and the lovely evening receptionist... lovely girls! Good spread at breakfast, plenty of choice and a real treat sitting out in the garden in the warm sunshine this morning.

The rooms are comfy, the hotel feels cosy and well presented - we have felt totally at home.

One more night and then back to reality... thank you for a lovely stay! X

The Bracara Augusta is a very pleasant hotel situated on the Praca de Republica, outside the buzz of the Old Town which is only a short walk away.

Reception on arrival was excellent. The receptionist apologised that the had still not reopened their breakfast buffet but I actually preferred the waitress service in any case. The breakfast / dinging room is a fine double-height space with wonderful stone pillars and arches.
Rooms are spread over three floors with lift. I would recommend the hotel for a great night's sleep in a good sized (twin bed) room. The bedrooms are arranged around the outside of a communal space and modern central staircase.

Perfect location in heart of city. Staff very helpful and friendly. We had a garden view room which had a large opening window to let air in and shutters to darken the room at night.
Breakfast lots of choices
Restaurant well worth trying for an evening meal top quality and as a residrnt you get 10% discount

I stayed here for 3 nights 24 to 27 February 2020 when visiting Braga for the Europa League match v Rangers.

I paid just over €62 per night through booking.com.

The hotel is very well located just off the main square, the Praca de Republica, on the edge of the old town. It has been open about 15 years in a former abbey and retains some original features.

My room(203) was adequate but a little shabby looking with the basic wooden furniture bearing the end of its useful life and some paintwork needing refreshed.

If you like a firm bed and pillows like me, you will not be disappointed.

The bathroom was a good size and as expected in Portugal the towels were large and good quality but some were softer than others.

Breakfast was disappointing. On the first morning the hot beans, bacon, sausages and scrambled eggs were cold and on the second morning it was obvious that the congealed mess purporting tube scrambled eggs were actually made from egg powder. However, the kitchen made fresh eggs to order. There was no brown bread (pan integral) for toast.

The evening front desk staff were friendly and helpful but I found the morning staff offhand and surly. Strangely given that it is less than 200 yards from the tourist office, the hotel only had photocopied maps.

Overall this is a 3 star hotel which in my opinion is a little bit expensive given that the rooms need updated and the poor quality breakfast needs improvement.

We have stayed at the Bracara Agusta twice and could not me more pleased. The location is terrific right on the park and a 5 minute walk along a pedestrian parkway to the city center. The location makes the rooms extremely quiet. The people are really friendly and helpful and the room was spacious and clean. I can't think of staying anywhere else on our next trip to Braga

This is in a great location. It is a ten to twenty-minute walk to Santa Barbara Gardens, the Braga Se Cathedral, the Roman baths, and many more sites. The restaurant in the hotel is excellent; they prepared a special dessert for us when we were visiting with some friends from the United States. It is within walking distance of many excellent restaurants, Thai, Portuguese, vegetarian, Indian, and barbecue to mention some.

The hotel's service is the finishing touch to the experience. It is efficient, professional, and friendly. They accommodate any reasonable request quickly and with pride.

This Hotel is a Great Stay

The hotel’s location is perfect. There are a few parking spots reserved for hotel guests on the street right across. The rooms are clean.
HOWEVER: The room we stayed at was basic and the A/C was turned off. Maintenance immediately succeeded in turning it on but it wasn’t really providing cooler air - just noise. The furniture and settings in the room were functioning, yet old. Mixed feelings about this hotel. If location and cleanliness is what you seek, then you cannot go wrong in staying here. If modern rooms and functioning A/Cs are a must for you, then, perhaps not…

Elegant, historic, family-owned hotel, perfectly located to explore the Centro area mere steps away. Spacious suite with a large, well-appointed bathroom and balcony views overlooking the park below, Jardim da Avenida Centro. Lovely restaurant with a deep garden area at the rear, wonderful integration of architecture both ancient and contemporary, and beautiful food. Absolutely loved the duck! Excellent breakfast included, and excellent value overall. Friendly, gracious and informative, the staff in both the hotel and the restaurant went above and beyond in making our stay the very best it could be - and we ended up staying an extra night. To Ana and Antonio, Luis, Ivone, Fabio and Paulo: muito obrigada...your hospitality, conversation and humor were and are greatly appreciated. We shall return!

We stayed for two nights, spending our days exploring the town and the surrounding area. There is so much to see in northern Portugal! It was wonderful to return to our quiet, comfortable room. The staff was welcoming and helpful, the breakfast was delightful, everyting was immaculately clean, and we were right in the center of town but away from the noise. The room was large and the air conditioning worked well. There is free parking across the lawn in front of the hotel. A note for those driving into town... when google maps says you have arrived, look to your left. There will be a modern sculpture in the park in front of the entrance. The hotel is on the other side of the park.
