I'll keep this short and sweet. This review is definitely affected by a couple of things that fell below our usually experience as Accor members and 1 thing that should never happen at a hotel.
Check-in and check-out was good and handled by the same guy. The pool is very nice with fantastic views. The balconies in the rooms are also awesome. The suite room was so spacious and we really enjoyed it especially as a family of 3. The housekeeping made a major error when they didn't clean our room even though we turned the card over and placed it on the door requesting that our room be cleaned. We were out of the room from 10-3 pm and when we got back to put our daughter (2 year old) down for a nap, it was too late to call the front desk to request our room be cleaned and they would or should be gone by the time our daughter woke up.
The breakfast was nice, again with good views. The hotel location in general is convenient.
As an Accor Diamond member we didn't get a welcome gift or drink voucher (we were asked to request a drink at the bar, which caused a little logistical confusion).
We would certainly stay here again, but would either ask for things missed up front or just go into it knowing that we wouldn't be receiving things that Accor ALL in their membership scheme say they give.
We did enjoy FREE late checkout though. That was nice since we had an afternoon train.

For our visit to the north, we booked a night at the “Mercure Braga Centro” hotel. The hotel is centrally located within walking distance of the historic center and has a guarded parking garage. Our room was on the 5th floor and was good value for money. For dinner you do not have to leave the hotel, you can safely go to the restaurant of the hotel, the price quality is also ok there. We can also say that the staff is very friendly, also the cleanliness of the hotel is definitely a plus, definitely recommended for a visit to Braga.

15 mins to the historic centre but the hotel, as for most of Braga outside the old town, in a commercial and tired area. Perfectly pleasant walk to the historical core of the city that is worth exploring, we used the free walking tour which was great. We took one of the rooms with a/con which was clean and cool with a balcony facing traffic. Breakfast for 12 euros was OK but the big surprise were the bars. On the 1st October when we stayed the bar on the 8th next to the pool was shut, I am guessing because 'bathing season' was over and the remaining bar on the 1st was very quiet, lacking atmosphere and would not serve a glass of wine to me only bottles!!! Do not come here for any ambience or evening relaxation but fine as a bed for the night.

We stayed 2 nights at Mercure Braga Centro. We were given a room with balcony at the front of hotel where extensive road works were going on. It was too noisy to sit on our balcony and enjoy a drink. When we checked out I asked the reception person why we were given such a noisy room his attitude was extremely bad he just shrugged his shoulders and said it shouldn't worry us as we were out most of the day. Whenever we walked past reception and greeted them with a hello they so rude and ignored us. The shower was mouldy there was no milk or black tea provided for our tea and coffee, the cleaners left us with 3 tissues in the tissue box. Not what i would expect from the Mercure group we have stayed in many Mercure hotels previously and never experienced this bad attitude and treatment.

The interior has the charme of a tombe, enough to put anyone off. Which is a shame, as the staff are extremely friendly and eager to make your stay as comfortable as possible - if friendly service is what you seek, then fine. If an appealing interior is equally important to you (or a comfortable bed, for that matter), give it a miss.

Clean and rooms well presented. Beds were big but not very comfy. Nice staff - very friendly. Great position to explore Braga. Good breakfast. Parking is easy - under the hotel and relatively spacious. Difficult to access the hotel by car due to road works. We asked for a quiet room as it is in a very urban location and because of the road works. They gave us rooms on the 7th floor and that was fine. The swimming pool on the roof was not open as it was winter. Braga itself was fascinating. A bit like crossing Lisbon with an English cathedral city. The Bom Jesus monument was a good excursion too and well-worth a visit.

Excellent service and great accommodation. Efficient and friendly staff. We stayed for 9 nights and everything worked perfectly. We go to Braga twice a year and always stay at the Mercure. The only time we stayed at another hotel was disappointing. We will always return to the Mercure. We have a reservation for July and, if possible, we would like to stay in the same suite, number 403.

After some time we returned to this hotel and were happy that the staff recognized us. The friendliness of the staff is without a doubt the strong point of this hotel. It is without a doubt the right choice for a stay in the center of Braga (despite all the works that are going on at the moment).

After a long day driving North from the Algarve in the pouring rain, we stumbled upon the Turismo Braga. What a great find! We were traveling with our then 9 month old and were exhausted. We arrived too late for dinner, but they graciously kept the kitchen opened and served us a wonderful meal.

The room was small but spotless and the baby crib and linen's were beautiful. The staff was extremely friendly and accomodating and the breakfast buffet was top notch. We will stay here again when our travels bring us back to the North of Portugal.

Hotel Mercure Braga Centro is located in the city center and has been renewed during the past couple of years. The concept of the hotel is clearly good, with very nice and large rooms. In the 8th floor you can enjoy a nice pool with a good view over the town. Breakfast is good (€10/person), but you can have it better and cheaper outside the hotel; service is very friendly and competent. Nice choice in the north of Portugal.
