We booked this trip very last minute and just wanted a room to sleep in whilst we explored. We were very happy to arrive and find the rooms clean, roomy and with great facilities - when have you ever booked self catering and had a dishwasher?? The rooms are basic, nothing to write home about but they were cleaned daily and as we only spent time sleeping in it we were happy with what we got. The lady who did our breakfast every morning was lovely. She was so helpful and hospitable, nothing was ever too much trouble, we got whatever we asked for and so for the small amount we paid for breakfast we got substantial amounts of food. During Covid she had to serve everything for us including coffee and orange juice but she never let our cups/glasses get empty. Be sure to book a room with a balcony, even though all you look out onto is another building, it's great to be able to sit outside. There is a large supermarket less than 5 minutes walk so you can get all of your supplies for tea, coffee etc. There was a kettle, a toaster, a cooker and plenty utensils, cups and plates etc. The west end of Funchal is less than 5 minutes away. Just around the corner are the Municipal Gardens and then the main street with shops and restaurants etc. The front was about 8 minutes walk and the Marina and Christmas lights where a stones through away. We were so happy to not have to go up and down too many hills to our room, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.

Stayed here as part of a Jet2 package. Can’t recommend it high enough. Welcoming receptionist on arrival and throughout the stay. The location was perfect. It’s central to everything but also peaceful. I had an apartment with a balcony at the back overlooking the alley. Spotlessly clean. A bath which is always a bonus for me. I would definitely return to Atlantida.

Lovely apartment with huge bed, big bathroom, fridge, cooker, tv, lounge and a small balcony which overlooked a back street but was full of character. Couldn’t fault anything at all and we really enjoyed making it our home.

Excellent value for money, location, and service. Very friendly staff and ideal location for exploring Funchal by foot. Just a few niggles. The lighting in the apartment was far too dim and although it is self catering, washing up liquid wasn't provided which meant we had to find a shop to buy some. Just seemed strange. All things considered, highly recommended.

Will we need heating on at the end of February? And what kind of heating do they have ?
Jun 2019 |
Hello and sorry for the delay of the answer. Referring to your question, our air conditioning system has a cooling and heating mode. So if you need to heat your room up - what is never really necessary, because in Funchal it´s never that cold - then you can do it easily with our air conditioner.

Hello, sorry for the delay of the answer. There are a lot of public pool areas like Complexo Balnear do Lido or Complexo Balnear da Ponta Gorda. As an alternative there is also the beach "Praia Formosa" where you get in 10min by car. Kind regards!

Do they have any salt pepper sugar and washing up liquid in the apartments or do you have to take your own?
Answer from Bucksfizz9

Take your own, supermarket five mins away. I only bought washing up liquid it was cheap only for a few mugs and the odd plate that we had a sandwich. I remembered to take a dish cloth and tea towel. Lovely place you will enjoy it.

Hand and bath towels were provided, and changed most days, which we found impressive. There wasn't a tea towel provided though, so take your own.
