We stayed here for 4 nights and had a very enjoyable time. Lovely breakfast and very comfortable bedroom. The owner was in hospital but we were looked after very well by the maid. She was wonderful. We walked into town from the hotel which took about 25mins. We often spoke about getting the bus but never did. Would definitely go...

This B&B is so lovely, we returned for a second stay only 2 years after our first visit. The host is wonderful, getting the balance of helpful and welcoming with giving you privacy and peace. Breakfast is served outside whenever possible, with the wonderful view of Funchal below. Have to say the view is better than almost any of the...

This was our second trip to Madeira and our first stay at Quinta Sao Goncalo. The pictures are true! This is a little gem amongst the many places you can stay; don't tell the whole world about it. Very homy and comfortable, breakfast is great and can be used on the terrace. It is possible to walk to town........but would...

This is a really great B&B just outside the centre of Funchal with superb views overlooking the city. Nice and friendly staff. Nice room which was spotlessly clean. The breakfast was great, fresh breads and croissants, cold meats and delicious fruits. takes about 30 mins to walk into town but there is a taxi service available at really reasonable costs....

Nice, refurbished, family house with old english furniture and silver. We had a large room with master bathroom and terrace overlooking the ocean and Funchal bay. Everything was perfect. Rita, the houseowner, was helpful and friendly. Highly recommeded

We have just returned from a weeks stay at this Quinta. Disappointing that we didn't have a room facing the stunning garden & sea. Breakfast on the patio was lovely with a choice of warm bread rolls, home made jams, ham & cheese, cereals, fruit & sometimes a cake! Although we were not greeted by Rita on our late arrival...

Home from home! A warm welcome from Rita who is well informed about the Island and anxious to please, encouraging us to make ourselves at home. The garden and terrace have stunning views of the harbour, the house is clean, and although slightly dated bathrooms, they are well eqipped with lashings of hot water! Quinta is a very pleasant environment...

We have just returned from a 5 night stay at the Quinta Sao Goncalo, and had a very enjoyable time. The setting is wonderful and the staff is friendly and very accommodating. We stayed in the end room with views over the city and the ocean, and unlike previous reviews, we found the bed comfortable, and had no issue with...

Lovely Quinta to relax, with a wonderful view of Funchal, a delicious breakfast at the terrace, and good information from the city and Island in general by the owner. Thank you Rita. Mariana and Günter

We stayed three nights at Quinta Sao Goncalo in January, and it was the best accommodation we had on Madeira. The Quinta is lovely with a garden overlooking the city. It is a bit outside Funchal, but that was not a problem for us as we had a car. They have a parking lot inside the gates. We thoroughly enjoyed...
