Part of a shore excursion. The bus ride up was an adventure all in itself. Narrow, winding, beautiful mountain road. Driver negotiated the turns skillfully. Not for the extreme faint of heart. The short, steep hike up the last part of the mountain to see the valleys, far below, was do-able for those who can walk well. Bathrooms and cafe;... More

Beautiful but scary drive up...absolutely stunning views to " Nuns valley " and you feel like you are on top of the world.... but... there were many wasps.... and I mean many. Maybe a time of the year thing but worth a mention. Ordered the chestnut soup but it had chicken in it and My partner doesn't eat meat so... More

My wife and I were here for a four days vacation between others stops. We liked very much the view and we are still remembering. Do hiking is a must. Just Take the trail beside the hotel and go down the hill. You will reach "Curral das Freiras" in about an hour. There you refill your batteries with portuguese nuts.... More

Having been hiking in the area, the choice of hotels is very limited. This place is more about the views, having a beer or an ice cream on the terrace and relaxing. We were unlucky as 2 large events took place during the night of our stay. This meant that nobody was at reception when we arrived, we had dinner... More

Our first visit was in 2008 and we just fell in love with the place. Our visit in July 2016 was the eleventh visit to Eira do Serrado which has now been upgraded to an hotel. The gym and pool are new additions and the view is absolutely amazing whilst you work out or dine in the restaurant looking at the... More

The hotel has spectacular views, food and the staff is amazing. In particular, Karina is super nice and will make you the best cocktails including a delicious Nikita cocktail, which is a local speciality. Roy was very helpful in the reception and organised very good local contacts and made us feel very welcome. We want to come back soon. It... More

This hotel is situated on what is possible the area with the best views in Madeira. We have visited this viewing point, where you can look down at The Nun's Valley, on many occasions. We noticed how nicely the whole area had been updated and decided to book to stay for 2 days in May. We arrived on Friday and... More

My two cents: Amazing location!!! I would recommend to stay here if only for a night just for this reason alone! Hotel itself is very quiet and half-empty most of the time, especially when all the tourist buses are gone! I think it’s a good thing, but it might not be for somebody else. Wifi signal very patchy and mostly... More

They do not respect their verbal arrangements or any other. I booked my wedding event there, and the previous arrangements were that the party was due to finish bettween 3:30 - 4.00 a.m. To my surprise at 1.30 a.m. they started kicking out my guests cleaning the space (taking out tables, and putting new ones) for another event to occur...
