Hotel's Favourite
What’s not to like! This is our second visit here and we are just as impressed again with the overall experience. Clean hotel, super friendly staff, good food, great facilities and all in a superb setting. There’s nothing more you need here to have a wonderful stay, everything from the decor to the friendliness of everyone, just makes you want to stay forever. There’s not much else to say other than we will be back for a third visit. Love the island, love this hotel.

This hotel is excellent. Facilities, restaurants, staff, We really enjoyed our stay. The Alfama and Il Basilica restaurants are very high quality and the buffet offering in the Atlantida is very high quality.. Staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful.

The Porto Mare was recommended by friends who had stayed previously and it did not disappoint. We received excellent pre welcome information and on arrival they accommodated an early check in easily. We had a ground floor room, with terrace with access to gardens and out door pool area. Room was exceptionally clean, spacious and comfortable with good quality bedding. Whilst the hotel is large in size, it remains quiet and you can easily find some quiet space around the pool which is situated amongst gardens. Warning though, the pool is not heated! However indoor pools are available. We had a simple snack type lunch at pool bar after exploring one morning, staff were friendly and relaxed. Breakfast was excellent, although a buffet, it was of excellent quality, again busy but plenty of staff available and space. Porto Mare is not located in central Funchal, but about 10-15 minutes outside, though public bus stops outside hotel and is easy and quick to use. …

A hotel complex that offers a great deal but was relaxing and calm. Rooms were good, we stayed in the west wing and we're not disturb by the bar beneath. Location is good to access the sea front, for walking into the centre although the old quarter is a good distance away so coffee break along the way is recommended.

Staff so friendly.rooms kept spotless.breakfast and dinner excellently so much choice. Good location bus stop outside hotel. Gardens and pool area spotless and gardens lovely and plenty of sun beds. Entertainment good in the evenings and happy hour for drinks.

This was out fifth visit to this lovely hotel and we are Prestege members we emailed a few weeks befor our holiday to update out membership as requested on a previous visit When we arrived we were welcomed everyone was very nice However the room we were allocated was over the very busy road and the care park not the sea view room we were expecting as we had been informed on a previous visit that as prestege members we would be given a room with a better view The room was very easy changed the staff were very understanding and we had a lovely room over the gardens with a sea view and we had a great holiday and we will return soon we hope It was just disappointing that we were given a room over the car park

The Porto Mare is a beautiful hotel set in the most gorgeous lush gardens. We had a lovely stay and the staff and cleanliness of the hotel was excellent. Our only slight disappointment was the selection of food in the evening buffet, it could possibly have more choice. Although the food that we had was all good. We would definitely return to the hotel and recommend to friends and family
