We were moved to this hotel Tui fault, but all I can say is how lucky we were it was fantastic. From start to finish the staff could not do enough for you lovely people. Food was great lots of choice, did not really use the pool bar but looked ok for snacks. The room we stayed in was probably one of the the cleanest I have ever stayed in the cleaner was in everyday, rooms have a free to use safe, pool towels, robes, slippers. all nice touches. Shower great. The pool area and views are a great place to spend a day relaxing no problem getting sunbeds. Would we go again most defiantly.
We have visited this hotel many times in the past ten years, the last time being 2019 and I usually rate it five star. This time I have rated it four star, which I have detailed below. There have been some changes since our last visit. There has been an addition of a beautiful new infinity pool, a lovely area to spend quality time. The hotel has extended the dining area in the Atlantico restaurant on the second floor, which gives a lot more seating outside. I personally liked the outside dining area. However, underneath the dining area some previous reviewers have likened to a car park and I agree with this. The inside dining area now resembles a canteen as the tables used to have white linen table cloths and serviettes, very elegant, but this made a lot of extra work for the staff. The food was still of a good quality and it was nice to see many of the original staff working alongside new staff. Another change I personally did not like was the staff wearing jeans, they used to wear smart shirts and trousers, but times move on. The standard of cleanliness remains extremely high in all areas of the hotel The drinks all remain of a very good standard, some local brands are very nice also. The night club on floor five is still excellent and some of the entertainment remains the same, the saxophonist and the folk lore dancers too. Many of the staff remember us each time we visit and it was good to see Pedro still working in the sports bar. We dined in the Asian, Italian and Madeiran restaurants and the food was of excellent quality, especially the Asian restaurant which had a really nice atmosphere. The speciality restaurants used to be booked through guest services but no bookings are taken now, we had no problem with this whatsoever. We had a lovely room on floor five with a pool side view, the housekeeping staff were very good I have always requested a room from floor five upwards, especially important for us now as the new outside dining area is on the same level as the rooms on floor two. We dined out a few times at local restaurants as my husband celebrated a special birthday whilst we were on holiday. We especially always visit El Silencio bar, a lovely local bar with extremely reasonable prices to watch the world go by. We also visited the Municipal gardens, a lovely park and Quinta Magnolia park. We walked to Praia Formosa along the promenade and down the steps, the tunnel remains closed and the board walk is gone from the beach. We always have a drink in the restaurant at Doca do Cavacas, where the natural pools are overlooking Praia Formosa beach. We will definitely visit the Enotel Lido again in future years, but our next visit to Madeira is to a hotel in the old town as we have never stayed in the old town.…
This is a great hotel. Everything is so clean. The food is excellent. And there's something to please everyone. (And I am a picky eater.) The staff are friendly and work really hard to make sure the customers are happy. Our shower wasn't quite right. They sorted it straight away. We requested new pillows. They appeared immediately. Normally I hate "entertainment". But I have loved the professional dancers, and the folk dancers etc. It's a great place, and I recommend it unreservedly. We are a couple in our 60s
Great location ..staff..food and comfy rooms... walking distance to Funchal.. all inclusive with good selection of food and drinks. excellent entertainment on several nights.. Great value for money 💰
Just returned from Enotel Lido and had a lovely stay. I had asked for a nice high floor room, but was given a superior room? 3rd floor looking right out onto the Restaurant. Spoke to a Lovely Paula who offered options and changed to great room over the pool with the sun. Balcony glass on most need a good clean as not touched. Main restaurant on 2nd floor and good fast lifts. Food was generally good quality, always fresh veg, no frozen rubbish, and always something to choose. Needs a gravy or sauce available to pour. My wife had dairy intolerance, but the restaurant was badly lacking in labels, and also staff didn't understand all the different allergies. Mentioned to head chef and would cook something not in butter or cream separate. Needs to vastly improve for a 5* Hotel had lots of floors offering different activities, piano bar was good for a cappuchino after dinner, and drinks were good quality except the Coral beer, far to gassy. Wine poor too as very acidic, rose was better. Top spirits and cocktails. We didn't use any of the other restaurants so can't comment. The pool snack bar was ok to nibble and pour your own drinks. Entertainment was ok with saxophonist good and a few dancers, but very cheesy music at 22.30pm usual loop of ymca, abba, village people. There was a Harris Hawk patroling the hotel under the guidance of its handler everyday, keeping the pidgeons away. Walk into Funchal old town 2 miles or a bus 1.95e. We caught the bus to cabao giro and walked back via a path with a beer in camara de lobos. Also nuns valley a great view point. We had no special mention in our room ie on tele or towel display which was a disappointment as celebrating our Ruby Anniversary. On a whole a great Hotel but some things letting it down as a 5* and TUI gives it 4.5*…
Location: about 2.5 miles from Funchal old town on the sea front, 50 minute walk, first part uphill all on main road. Take the bus, number 1 or 2 a couple of euros or get a giro card and pre load it. 10 trips makes it 1.25 a trip. Buses are frequent but full be prepared to stand although many passengers give up seats to older travellers. Easy access to the promenade. Hotel covers 10 floors basically on the side of a hill, main road entrance/reception is on level 6, the promenade is via level 1 by the pool - guests have secure access. There are 4 lifts which are fairly quick (1 second a floor), we rarely waited more than a few seconds - we were on holiday no rush. Wi Fi available throughout even by the pool. Got 28mb/s down and 18 down, good connection to UK. 5G seemed available all over Funchal. Staff: Very good, friendly, helpful and service with a smile - great. Room: we were on the 8th floor with a sea view which was very quiet. 2 Large beds, a bit firm for us. One soft chair, 2 stools and 3 plastic balcony chairs, fortunately there were several cushions. We had requested a kettle which was provided but got two plastic bottles so that we could fetch water from the reception area or restaurants, also had to get milk from the bar and tea bags from the restaurant. Never encountered this before certainly not in a 5 star hotel. We did have fridge with some soft drinks in. Large bathroom with large shower, had to ask for a plastic shower mat as shower floor very slippy when wet. Also had to ask for extra shower gel (body wash) a couple of times when it was not replenished. Lots of shampoo! Towls & bedding changed as needed. Main restaurant on level 2: large regimented layout bit like an enormous cafeteria. Drinks were bought to the table otherwise self service. Plates cleared away almost as soon as you put your knife & fork down! Loads of choice at all meal times. Drinks plentifully and spirit measures generous. No problem getting refills at lunch and dinner just how to avoid the 3rd and 4th glass!! Large pool and lots of sun beds. Entertainment: varied and quite good especially when greeted with brandy and liquors. Would we go again - yes - enjoy. …
Fantastic hotel with great staff giving helpful friendly service. I am coeliac and plenty of gluten free food available including delicious sweets (very rare in hotels) corner provided at breakfast with sliced bread and cakes, cornflakes. I wish they could provide gluten free muesli though! At dinner I fancied lamb kebabs which had a sauce on not suitable for me so they cooked some plain which were great and they did the same another evening with chicken. Drinks excellent too. I have been to many all inclusive hotels but this is by far the best. We went to two speciality restaurants Madeira and the Italian they were able to provide gluten free also. At lunchtime the pool bar provides a good variety of food also. Sports bar good for watching the football many screens 4 if I remember correctly. Only slightly negative is the main restaurant can get quite noisy at peak times but you can sit outside if the weather permits. It would be good if they could maybe section it and give a quieter area somehow just an idea! We used both pools outside clean a bit cool though. The indoor is warmer and big enough to do some proper swimming. Sauna and jacuzzi brilliant included in the price too. Rooms great with fridge and free safe. Plenty to see and do on this beautiful island so hoping to go back soon. …
We had an excellent stay. The Hotel is great as is the location , food and rooms ,staff very good and friendly. Special thanks to Marina who made my wife’s Birthday special by allocating the room we requested. First time for us In Madeira but we will definitely be back to this Hotel hopefully again next February/ March
This is a fantastic hotel. The rooms are great, the food wonderful and the drinks (including cocktails) are totally spot on. The wine is lovely. I can't find any negatives. It's bloody great and I will definitely come back later this year. You must be really hard to please if you don't like this hotel and I go away at least seven times a year
Stayed for 7 nights early March, all inclusive a very reasonable £649pp. It is a very clean comfortable place with helpful and friendly staff. Lovely big outside pool and a smaller pool under cover. Food in the main dining room was good without being anything special but there was something for everyone. Breakfast is very good and dinner consistentky better than the speciality nights. The "Japanense" restaurant is about as far removed from Japanese as possible, awful sushi, an average Chinese main course and the remaining dishes totally forgettable but definitely not remotely Japanese. It's a difficult cuisine so why bother if it's not done even half decently? The restaurant set up is excellent so why not do it properly, or not at all. If you stay here don't bother with Japanese night. Madeiran night was decent, about 6.5/10 as was the Italian night. Poncha is the delicious Madeiran national drink - it's in every bar in varying quality but normally good; the Emotel Piano Bar version is an awful pre-mix. Why is poncha as proudly made here as it is in virtually every other bar on Madeira? One for the management, as is the Portuguese speciality pasta Del nata; rarely available but when it was offered it was terrible. Such a shame as most other offerings are good. The advertised Thursday darts competition was interesting because the hotel has no dartboard - not a big deal but why leave it on the activities list? Rooms all have a sea view, are pretty big and each has a private balcony, the rooms are very well serviced and very clean with free sorlft drinks in the fridge and refillable water bottles provided too. The main town is a 20 minute walk or a 10 minute €1.95 bus ride and we'll worth visiting - tons of history and interesting back streets in the Old Town. The weather in March can be variable with a few showers on most days but 20-25° on others and when the sun is out the pool area is great. Would I come back, I probably would; would I recommend it to friends? Yes, with the above info. Would I recommend.d Madeira generally? Definitely. It's much less "Kiss me quick hat" than Tenerrife, equally good weather and flight time from the UK and there's enough to do to keep most people happy.…
