Have just returned from a 10nt stay with my partner, daughter & 16yr old granddaughter & can honestly say what a pleasure it was to stay at this delightful hotel. It is spotlessly clean everywhere but you rarely see a cleaner. The food is delicious & flavourful, lots of choice for breakfast, from fruit, fried, yoghurt, pancakes, everything you could wish for. Evening meal is different every night but is quite fish orientated which if like me you're not too keen on fish it's a bit disappointing but was well presented & lovely & hot, dessert was very much the same on a nightly basis. We had a sea view room on the 9th floor & wow the view was spectacular, was very clean & spacious, plenty of storage for clothes too. Couple of niggles really, there was no plug in the bathroom sink which I find strange, provide tea but no coffee or milk & the power point under the mirror didn't work in either our room or my daughters so made hair styling a bit difficult. The pool area is spotless with plenty of sunbeds, there was aquarobics advertised but I never saw any evidence of it happening. We didn't use the Spa or gymnasium so can't comment. All staff are very friendly & helpful but a big shout out to Leonandro in the bar, a very pleasant chap, the drinks are no more expensive than the bars outside & the entertainment overall is ok. A short walk up the hill to the local shopping centre & supermarket which is a bonus as is the free courtesy bus into Funchal, bookable 24hrs before. Overall a pleasant few days of relaxation

Lovely modern hotel, we stayed half board and our drinks throughout our stay were put on a tab, you can check the tab on the TV. You can get fresh pool towels at the spa for 1EUR each. They charge it to your room tab. It was a good location for us. The pre-bookable hotel bus is great. You can walk to the cliff tunnel from here and then to a beach, or walk into town the other direction, but we always got the free bus. I originally thought the hotel seemed a bit out the way, but it isn't. The food and drinks were good. The restaurant staff are very observant and helpful. We had a view facing the road which we didn't mind as we could watch people go past, the sea view rooms possibly get treated better with more toiletries and coffee etc. The only negatives I have are the wardrobe handles. They are a very strange choice, very noisy and unusual for a hotel. And also the safe not being FOC. The handles will seem trivial until you experience the noise. Overall its a good hotel and I hope to return next year

What a wonderful hotel! Wow! the room was just perfect, we had an upper level room with sea view, it was fantastic. You could sit on the bed and all you saw was the sea.. Lovely service and staff in the hotel, breakfast was great, sat outside all week on the terrace watching the sun coming up eating breakfast, how lovely! The facilities in the hotel were spot on, the pool and surroundings were great, no worries about reserving sun beds, any time of the day there was always plenty of places to sit around the pool. We ate in the Italian one night and the food was very tasty. Recommend this! Walk straight from the hotel along the promenade in either direction. Such a great location. Approx. 45 min walk into Funchal. We had a spa treatment, well worth the money! Evening entertainment was pleasant, you could still talk whilst it was going on in the background. Recommend this hotel!

We had the pleasure of staying at the Baia Azul hotel for 4 nights and loved it, we didn't want to leave, beautiful decor, helpful staff and lovely rooms. Everything is perfectly clean. I would advise you to go for a sea view room as it makes all the difference opening your balcony door to the beautiful ocean view but even if not there is a terrace to sit out on with a drink, which was bliss! The breakfast was amazing, spacious venue with outside seating and such a good selection of food- we never needed lunch!, didn't eat dinner there as was always out for meals in Funchal.- bus routes go from a short walk outside the hotel into Funchal. Pool area is lovely with a pool bar serving cocktails and light lunches- all very reasonably priced. All in all, great stay, will definitely be back here again!

Loved this hotel! It’s on the outskirts of all the hustle and bustle, close to some restaurants, shopping centre and supermarket. Short stroll down to gardens and lidos as well as near bus stops to get the tour buses or the standard buses and a only approx 25 mins to the airport via private transfer. The hotel room was great, specious and we had a sea view which also meant you could see the pool and a balcony to listen to the sea waves crashing against the rocks in the evening. Plenty of places to sit during the day and night, breakfast was a huge area so wasn’t too crowded and plenty of choice of hot and cold food. Table service for drinks on the main roof in the evening and also has luggage storage for free. The only slight problem we found was in the evenings when they had entertainment on the bar really struggled to keep up with demand, we noticed this the whole week but it honestly wasn’t a dealbreaker, it just could do with an extra person to help out. The ladies on the reception during the afternoon into the evening were so helpful! It was also my birthday whilst there so they provided a free birthday cake 😊 Would we return and also recommend, yes 100%.

Gorgeous modern hotel with excellent facilities and stunning views. Everywhere is spotlessly clean and you always see staff busy working. All of the staff are lovely, welcoming and helpful. Only did B&B but great selection of food and the drinks in the bar are reasonably priced. Great location with plenty of shops and eateries nearby and easy to walk or catch public transport to Funchal centre. Our stay was absolutely fantastic and will be definitely staying again. Obrigado pelo bolo de aniversario e por tornar a nossa estadia tao perfecta.

A little bit out of the main town but conveniently located by bus stop 20 on yellow hop on/off bus route. Short walk to Forum shopping centre and a good selection of restaurants. The hotel offers a shuttle bus to the town which needs to be reserved the day before through reception. Room was spacious, bed comfortable and bathroom large. Room 735, Our view was over the front car park but we hardly spent any time in the room so didn’t bother us. Hair dryer in the bathroom is a bit inconvenient but minor. No coffee offered in the room, so take your own if this is a problem. Communal areas were light and airy with lots of seating options. Front desk struggled at busy times as often only one person and would lose track as to who was next. Pool area well maintained and pool itself heated. Great view over the ocean and the sun remained on the deck until about 5pm (end sept) Bar at the pool closed at 6pm Included breakfast was varied and fresh. Live station for eggs/omelette. Coffee was only available from a machine and even though there were a couple, the queue was often long and could take 15mins to get a cup. In the end I would pour two to save queuing again! Evening entertainment was put on every night and mainly consisted of duo singers. Typical of many hotels and a nice bit of background to enjoy over a sundowner and game of cards. Overall, a great hotel And would recommend

Beautiful hotel. Staff really friendly and helpful. Good choice at breakfast. Our room was large and spacious. Only criticism, we didn't have balcony or any outdoor space. No view, but this didn't impact our stay. No coffee in your room so had to go out and buy some. Housekeeping not very generous with sugar either so had to keeping asking. Should I return to Maderia in the future, would definitely stay here again.

My partner and I stayed in this hotel for 3 nights in august and we loved it. We had booked a Mountain View but when we checked in we actually had a sea view which was beautiful (even in the rain). The staff were absolutely fab, it was my partners birthday while we were there and, without us mentioning it to the hotel, they had left him a birthday cake in our room which was a lovely touch. We only had breakfast in the hotel but it was tasty with plenty on offer, and you can get Prosecco included too! We’d absolutely come back here again to explore more of the island and would definitely recommend it.

What a beautiful hotel and such a stunning location overlooking the ocean. From the moment we walked into reception everything was perfect. We had a mountain facing room, our 10 year old daughter was on an extra bed next to ours. The room was air-conditioned, the beds comfortable and at night it was so quiet, we slept peacefully. Breakfast is simply amazing, the choice is huge. The staff are friendly and professional. We want to go back!
