We stayed at this hotel in room 308 for week 27 March to 3 April & thoroughly enjoyed it. Our room didn't have a balcony or terrace but we never missed it as it was spacious with a big window. The beds were really comfortable and there is plenty of wardrobe space. Everywhere was spotless & cleaned every day. We...

This delightful traditional hotel, provides excellent service and a quiet atmosphere as appropriate to 'Charming Hotels' chain. Room was comfortable with balcony, make sure that air con is working as it is noisy to sleep with window open. There was a similar choice of breakfast every day it could be taken in the conservatory or outdoors. There is a small...

Went to this, what I would call a period hotel ,we had a balcony which we had to pay extra for but was worth it. Got room on the 3rd floor and faced onto a main road but also a beautiful view. The traffic noise did not disturb us The room was spacious and the bed was comfortable the bedroom got...

Booked through our local travel agent and recommended for us. Being of a 'certain age' we are not bothered about night life or beaches. However we do enjoy getting around & walking. This hotel is well placed for Funchal being about 1.5 km (20 mins) into town. The cable car and market are a bit further. There is a good...

Just returned and agree with other reviews. We were in room 301 , the carpet outside the room really needs replacing. It would make such a difference. However that is minor, the hotel is in an excellent location for walking into town, as a result it is on a busy junction which can be quite noisy , but it never...

This seemed to be a hotel of two parts. Our initial impression was less than favourable with large sections of carpet totally threadbare right outside our room on the 3rd floor. The beds were not the most comfortable and the pillows were unbelievably bad (we asked for more and they were better.) Breakfast was reasonable with a selection of cold...

Spent a week here in early February and enjoyed every moment. The hotel is on a busy junction, the coffee at breakfast isn't the best but I think the advantages far outweigh these small issues. The hotel is half way between the old town and the Lido area with easy access to both areas of Funchal. We were in room...

enjoyed the boutique hotel which had a chilled and oasis feel to the place, room comfy just 10 foot from swimming pool, continental breakfast good set me up for the days exploring, hotel in very good location, many bars and shops nearby, only thing lacking in my opinion was a Jacuzzi, maybe worth the investment to keep hotel competitive

The old town, straight on past the park, another 10+ minutes. Its a good and safe experience.

Bar Avo, is one hell of an experience. The art shop at the rear of the cathedral, has a great coffee shop at the side. best coffee and great cake in town.

Yes, i'll be going again.

Not being a veggie I don't know but there are some restaurants around but best for choice go to the old town on a 1,2 or 4 bus from across the road from hotel. You can get reasonable snacks at the hotel too.

The marina is about 15 minutes steady walk, and all down hill.

The cable car is at the far end of the marina, c.25mins. For average fitness, it's all easily do-able.

Easiest route to the marina, stroll (east) down the main boulevard, past the park, turn right, youll find youre marina side, kindest gradient.

Worth noting, as parts of the slope up from the marina / harbour, same as outside the hotel, are a bit steep. Low gear, and steady pacing.

Taxi's are available, if you need.
