After all the tiresome paperwork we finally arrived at Pestana Village hotel! It was well worth it. The hotel manages Covid very well. Masks must be worn at all times in hotel and this is enforced. Hand sanitizers everywhere aroun hotels . I was very impressed. Sun beds also sanitised every day. We had a wonderful holiday. Madeira is delightful, weather wonderful and the people are lovely.
Nice hotel with colourful garden. Good pool and all resort facilities close by. Resort in good location with shops and restaurants near by. Close to bus stops . Easy 15 minute walk into Funchal town with all its shops and restauarants and tourist attractions.
Had a very enjoyable week at the Pestana village, booked via Jet2. Firstly, a couple of caveats: We were B&B board and ate out all week, so can’t comment on the evening buffet meal in the restaurant. We did get a couple of bar snacks a couple of times (eg sandwiches, burger) and these were nice enough. Breakfast food was fairly standard hotel self-service fair, but nice enough - and was was organised very well. (Quick seating, no real queues for food/coffee, and a decent range of choices) Outdoor pool was a nice size - if a touch chilly. (There was a smaller, but warmer indoor one available) Gym was surprisingly well appointed, and my daughter and other half made good use of the jacuzzi, sauna etc. The rooms were clean, comfortable & well maintained - if perhaps a little bit dated in terms of decor. Having a fridge was a nice bonus for storing drinks etc. We walked through the adjacent/sister Miramar hotel to use their games room (a nice bonus) and although I didn’t see into any of the rooms, the public areas generally looked a bit more ‘upmarket’ in style compared to the Village hotel’s. Don’t expect their to be much life after evening meal. It was very quiet by 10pm, but I’m guessing nobody really comes to Madeira for wild nightlife. 😂 We had a car, and did a lot of walking on the island. So enjoyed the good night’s sleep, decent breakfast, and relaxing in the pool/bar/ spa areas when we got back in the afternoons - before wandering out in the evening for a family meal. If all that makes the Village hotel sound a bit underwhelming, that’s not my intention. Because overall we had a very enjoyable stay. The thing I would most like to praise, and the thing that brings this up to a 4 star review, is the how friendly, professional and approachable all the staff were. No bored teenagers or grumpy time-servers that we came across. All staff came across as a massive credit to the hotel, really seemed to take a pride in their job, and in making their guest’s stay as welcoming as possible. I’d happily take a slightly less trendy room, if the trade off was the kind of warm, smiling, professional service we got from the Pestana Village staff. On that basis alone, plus maybe the ambience of the outdoor pool/bar space, I’d happily recommend. Anyone visiting Madeira with a middling holiday budget, who isn't expecting an ultra chic/high end hotel, or loads going on in the evening, would have a nice time.…
Great time here. We had actually booked in an apartment elsewhere but found the accommodation very lacking to say the least. Booked a room here to replace. We have been here off and on since 2017 and have found the staff always very helpful and friendly, especially the restaurant and bar staff. Very clean and consistently cleaning tables and communal areas. Food is first class. We had breakfast buffet each morning with occasional evening / lunch meal. It’s a very quite and relaxing place and brilliant for access to Funchal and Soa Machini areas. Highly recommend it.
Adequate for a quick stop over night in Funchal. Garden room was ideal for accommodating our little dog. Lovely breakfast served to room which was appreciated and nice taken in the quiet patio garden area. Expensive bar compared to local prices. Female staff very pleasant but most males quite surly.
