Can’t say enough about this hotel, good location clean and well maintained, rooms and beds very comfortable.Staff go above and beyond can’t do enough for you and the chef even baked me a cake for my birthday would definitely recommend a visit. Treated myself to a spa treatment excellent
Stayed here for one week at end of April 2022. Lovely hotel, great food and friendly staff. Spa facilities are great and everywhere was spotless. Easy location for walk into main town (about 15 minutes). Anyone visiting Madeira must go see the tropical gardens at Monte and go back down in the basket toboggan ….very exciting. Would definitely recommend.
Very good holiday location hotel! Great facilities and the hotel staff are always very helpful and welcoming !Good selection for the breakfast!hot and continental! Really decent sized rooms and excellent bathroom and shower ! Bar and selection of drinks are available for reasonable prices! Would definitely go back again!
First holiday since before covid so understandably a little nervous. No need to worry, Masks in the common areas, hand sanitizer stations throughout the building. Enough of Covid the hotel is well furnished in the common areas reception staff excellent. Our room was on the third floor and was overlooking the gardens next doors. The room was simply but stylishly furnished and was perfect for our needs. Food was buffet style in the single restaurant - meal sessions were well managed and the food was excellent in both choice and quality. We were fully inclusive so we were able to ‘snack and drink all day’ Waiting staff were amazing - special mention to the fabulous Andre Melim and also Felecia Laberne (hope I got that right), Casia Silva, Jose Manual and Marco Alfonso. If I had any suggestions for improvement it would be the quality of the evening entertainment. The folk troupes were excellent but the remaining nights weren’t the best. Don’t let this put you off this is indeed a four star hotel and we will return…
Magnolia is a short walk into Funchal but close to bus routes and not far from the lidos. A very good buffet restaurant with lovely friendly staff. The pool is good and the heated undercover pool is wonderfully relaxing. Rooftop sun deck is a great asset too.I’d definitely come back
The hotel is very clean, modern and fresh flower displays greet you. The staff are very attentive to your needs. I went to reception to say my bed was too firm and they arranged for mattress toppers to be put on there and then. . The food is outstanding quality. Not masses of choice but quality food. Lots of healthy choices too. There is entertainment on the evening but other than that it is very relaxed ambiance. There is a shallow pool, bit cold for this time of year and a warm jacuzzi pool which sits at 34 degrees and is deliciously warm. There is a spa with a variety of treatments. Dressing gowns in all rooms. Rooms cleaned daily. Shower very powerful. The hotel is not too far from the harbour, with lots of shops, restaurants and activities. I would definitely return here and recommend it highly.…
Great location close to town. Friendly bar staff. Good choice of food at the buffet at breakfast & dinner. The cafe for lunch is fabulous. Good size room and balcony. Shower good but took a while to work out as sensitive. Negatives : bed incredibly uncomfortable very hard mattress even after I asked for a topper it only made a slight difference .Requested a kettle from the guy on reception and was refused due to COViD . Had to insist as I knew other people had them he finally agreed to see what he could do. Result one kettle delivered to room, without any cups etc. Mealtimes in the restaurant can be manic even though you are given timed slots, it seems the restaurant is really too small for the number of tables. At breakfast we found empty tables but had to ask to have them cleaned & relaid, not just once either. Positives The bar staff are extremely friendly and quick serving drinks and the hotel is value for money. Hubby did not have a problem with the bed so it just depends on what you as an individual need from a mattress.…
Excellent restaurant and excellent room with lovely view . Room spacious and well designedWe had a sea view on the sixth floor and lifts were very available. Restaurant breakfasts were excellent with plenty choice, as with dinners.Only criticism for us was that there was no bath.
We arrived about 9pm for our 3 day visit. I had emailed ahead for a high room overlooking the pool but apparently we had booked a superior room and these are in the annex and only 2 floors high – I would have swapped for one of the other rooms but none available – Our room was bigger he said but we didn’t have much of a view - I was disappointed. Breakfast the following morning was as the others have said, plenty to choose from but only luke warm. On our third morning I ordered an omelette which was nice and hot. The staff were all very friendly. Our mattresses were rather hard but a phone call to reception and we had mattress toppers on that night, much better. We spent some time around the pool after sight seeing, which was quite pleasant and very quiet – we didn’t use the hot pool. We didn’t have any dressing gowns in our room but decided they weren’t needed. We had a lovely evening meal at the restaurant at the side of the hotel, in the lovely gardens, Jardim Botanico da Maderia and recommend this. We also ate at Chalet restaurant opposite the Pastana hotel. One thing we didn’t realise is everything is on a very steep hill in Funchal – we ended up getting taxis a couple of times which were quite reasonable.…
The staff are excellent working tirelessly. The hotel was very clean and has been recently refurbished. Our allocated room was top floor room 616 great views out to sea. Visiting off season meant plenty of sunloungers available & space on the bar area and outside seating area. It is noisy though as adjacent to two busy roads in Funchal, during the day its noticeable but in the night definitely quieter, but you compromise that for the location to city centre. The rooms are well sound proofed. There was no kettle in the room but we were provided with one upon asking . They had been removed due to Covid-19. Mask wearing in the hotel was mandatory and in the restaurant only taken off to eat and drink. Evening entertainment was interesting and in some ways it would have been better without. Mostly English, French & Germans in the hotel. We visited tourist hotspots, if possible check out when the several cruise ships are in and avoid those days or go early. Cable car queues can become very long. Last point if you are gluten free this hotel is not geared up for you. I had to ask for bread and on one occasion it never appeared, in the end I gave up. I noticed another guest had bought her own into the restaurant from the supermarket. Be prepared or contact the hotel ahead of your visit. This hotel isn't adults only anymore when it was Quinte de Sol it was. I would say its not appropriate for children here, there's no facilities for for them. The relaxing jacuzzi small pool became their splash pool not really conducive for adult guests trying to relax. Overall this hotels cleanliness and excellent staff and location rate this 4 for us. Thank you we enjoyed our stay. …
