Lovely location, very nice large rooms. Breakfast looking over the sea with rising sun. So beautiful. Nice pool and access to swim in the sea too. Dinner choice not great. Lots of nice local restaurants close by and of good quality and reasonably priced. Bedroom has cooking facilities but we never used them. A large supermarket right across the road. Bus stop very close by up a hill. Lovely 3 km sea walk starting at hotel. Staff very friendly and helpful. Sorry to say it is currently closed for renovations until June. I am so disappointed as I would be rebooking again.
We arrived on the 15th of December for a 2 week break on half board basis. Food was great, we ate in the a la carte most nights and breakfast was taken in the round restaurant on the 5th floor overlooking the sea. It was fantastic eating breakfast in the sun! We have been to Madeira a few times around Xmas but never actually for Christmas day and beyond. The hotel made the whole festive experience really traditional with the most amazing choir performing in the evening and a beautiful candle light dinner for Christmas eve and buffet for xmas day! The hotel is really charming and in a brilliant position for funchal or the forum, both are about 20/30 easy walk. The supermarket is across the road and really handy and there are a good few restaurants within short walking distance too. There is direct sea access just a few steps away from the pool and you can always get a sunlounger as there was nobody reserving them. The hotel is going under renovation and will hopefully still retain it's charm but with a nice fresh, modern twist? Our room was absolutely fine with comfy beds lot's of pillows and pool/bath towels replaced regularly. Our balcony was a good size with stunning views of the sea. Everything was taken care of and nothing was a problem! The staff are probably some of the nicest, most accommodating that we have met in all of the hotels we have stayed in and always greeted us with a friendly, smiling face and had time for a quick chat. Our maid was super helpful and left our room spotlessly clean.Pestana you have some fantastic, hard working staff at the palms! I would absolutely return anytime not just over the Christmas period to this hotel. Keep doing what you are doing. Hope to visit again when the renovations are complete. Obrigado…
Dear oh dear. This was probably a 4 star accommodation when it was built but not now . Worn out carpets , curtains, bathrooms , doors , I could go on. Tea and coffee sachets are only left on the first day. Only had breakfast once , that was enough. The only positive was the views from the balcony and the pool area wasn’t bad. Paid a lot of money for this hotel, stayed in far better for less. Definitely not value for money
Exelent service and friendly staf. This is an older hotell but well maintaind. Rumors are that they are going to renovate the facilitys in spring 2023. 30 minits walk to funchal or 5 houers depending on how meny bar stops you have on the way... 100 meters to supermarket and 15 minister to madeira forum.
Fantastic hotel in a great location. Steps to take a dip in the see was great. Breakfast was spot on. First visit to this lovely island and will definitely be returning. Funchal Town was great it was like a mix of a beach destination and a city break.
This hotel was in a fantastic position with clear views over the sea and within easy walking distance of Funchal town centre. Rooms were an excellent size with cleaning staff being first class. Pool area great with plenty of loungers and access to the sea. Food excellent and good prices. All the staff were friendly and helpful. This is our fourth visit and will go back again.
The location of Pestana Palms is awesome. The waves crashing against the rocks while in bed while as great. Good views from balcony and breakfast area. The supermarket is across the street. Plenty of restaurants nearby. Taxi stand in front. Great daily Happy hour and entertainment for most nights. The pool area is nice with a decent restaurant. Friendly and attentive staff. The property could use some renovation.
The location is perfect and the views are great. You get to swim easily in the ocean and there are lots of restaurants nearby. There is also a bus stop near the hotel so you can easily travel from place to place cheaply. The hotel room was ok, could be prettier though. Decoration and condition weren't up to date. Also the balcony door did not lock. Breakfast was good, tho it was a little bit annoying when the staff were walking around and picking plates all the time while you were eating.. The elevator didn't work one time, it didn't move at all - luckily the door opened after few minutes and we could use the stairs. All though hotel staff and reception were helpful and kind. All in all, I would visit again.
We had a wonderful holiday here. Staff lovely and it's in such a beautiful place, right on the edge of the sea. From watching sun rise at breakfast and sunset in the evening, it was lovely. Rooms large and very clean and great balcony. Breakfast could improve especially the fried eggs and rashers. This is the only fault we had with the hotel. Staff very helpful. Lovely facilities and in walking distance of old town. Bus stop 3 minutes away up the hill & the red & yellow bus, stops there too. Great restaurants very close to the hotel. All very reasonable priced. Big supermarket also across the road. Lovely paved walks starts at hotel and goes for 3km along coast. Be warned there are lots of mosquitoes in Madeira. We travelled around the island easily on local bus tours. Very enjoyable too . Beautiful flowers every where. The island is so tropical. Weather was great too.…
We stayed here for 5 nights, and although we enjoyed our stay and I would not particularly criticise the hotel, there were a few points to note. The breakfast was bad quality, with hot food over-cooked and mostly everything a bit bland. The serving area gets very crowded and it would be better if the food was covered more as lots of people were leaning over the food areas. The room was really spacious which was a treat, but the decor does need up-dating badly. Although sold to us as a “luxury” hotel, I would not class it so. There were cracks in the marble sink and it did not drain very well. The curtains did not close fully and it felt like there was a general lack of maintenance. The pool was maintained well, but outside furniture, especially the odd umbrella stands (painted tyres with concrete in them) were difficult to move and unsightly. The grounds were lovely and it is in a fantastic location. I would consider returning if the rooms are updated.…
