It was my very first time in lisbon and I expected a lot of the city and accomodation. The hostel has large rooms and are really clean. There showers and restrooms are better then in normal hostels I know. Furthermore staff is friendly and helpfully. You can see that they love their job and also can assist you when there...

It’s a nice place to go with friends and a good choice to travel alone. You have different choices of which kind of room you what to stay. The rooms have all you need, and it’s clean. The decoration is really original everywhere, you can find art in the environment. It’s an open space really familiar; you have different living...

Absolutely wonderfully centrally located, a block or two from the Metro, in the middle of all kinds of wonderful sites. Felt very safe and secure, there was always someone at the desk to help and answer questions. Very clean and well maintained and the showers were WONDERFUL after two weeks of weak boat water pressure!

We stayed here as a couple for 2 nights in the private room with en suite, the staff were very friendly, the hostel was very clean and not like the average hostels that I have visited before. We had a very short visit so didn't take any of the tours that were offered to us but they all seemed good...

Hostel really well located ! But in the same time, hard to sleep there. Lot of noise the evening and also the morning quite early (cleaning the street). Nice bed. Showers are ok, really nice living room, and excellent breakfast (with pancakes :-) The hostel offers lot of activities everyday for people who would like to discover the city

The whole hostel is set up very spacious. A very nice change from cramped dorm rooms! Breakfast is good, the hostel dinner was great. The staff is lovely. I didn't join the large range of activities, but they sound very nice.

This hostel is in a nice location, however everything closes at 8-9pm, so it is sketchy to walk around after that to try & find food. If you have heavy luggage be prepared, as its all stairs going up... rooms start on level 2-4. The beds are comfortable, however the pillows are small & lumpy. The rooms are very hot...

Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighbourhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!

For a low cost you can join other guests for our three-course hostel dinner, cooked by our talented Portuguese chef. We also offer cheap van tours (during summertime) to the romantic historical town of Sintra and the local beaches. Were located in the heart of Lisbon's historic Baixa district, the main tourist centre of the city. The hostel is just around the corner from the iconic Rua Augusta, a grand and beautiful mosaic-tiled pedestrian street capped by a colossal arch. A short stroll will also take you to the charming suburb of Alfama, the oldest part of Lisbon and the home of Fado, the music of Portugal. At night you can walk to the famous Bairro Alto, a labyrinth of bars and street parties. All forms of public transport, including the airport shuttle and the Cascais beach train line, are within very short walking distance of our hostel. With so much on offer, you will have everything you need to have a comfortable, memorable and fun stay in Lisbon.
