I had a good stay in a great location near Metro and restaurants. The gentlemen who run it were friendly, knowledgeable and spoke very good English. I thought the breakfast was fine as in addition to bread, juice & coffee they had boiled eggs and cheese. It was good value but I would happily pay an extra Euro or two...

The pensao doesn't have fancy furnishings, but the rooms are kept spotlessly clean (except for an area rug in the room that looked like it had seen better days). The breakfast room is a little cramped and doesn't offer an abundant selection, but is more than enough to fill you up. Location is close (within 5 minutes walk) to the...

This pension has 2 things going for it. Fantastic location in the heart of Lisbon and great staff who can't do enough for you. Beyond that it is pretty Spartan. The rooms are sparsely furnished. The beds good for straightening out a bad back. The breakfast is bread, croissants, coffee tea juice and a few pieces of fruit. Wi fi...

I highly recommend this hotel due to its wonderful staff and excellent location. So much of Lisbon was easily accessible by foot and a charming pedestrian street was down the road. The staff was eager to offer tips and suggestions. The facilities were simple but clean and comfortable. Wonderful value for the price.

Way too expensive according to what it offers. Very small rooms. Very poor breakfast. Lousy staff. But near good spots specially shopping and entertainment (theaters). Hard Rock Cafe is also nearby. Nice but expensive places to eat nearby.

I stayed here for my mates 40th weekend and it was a lovely hotel. The location was very central five minutes walk from the tube station and only 10 minutes up a steep hill to barro alto where there were lots of nice restaurants and bars. The breakfast was a very lovely as it consisted of croissant's, bread, eggs, tea, coffee and...

What I loved most about it was the location. It is on a parallel street with Avenida da Liberdade, 2 minutes from Praça dos Restauradores. There's the subway nearby, a Padaria Portuguesa for breakfast/lunch/dinner (we didn't try the breakfast at the hotel, which was free) and close to anything you could possibly want to visit in the centre - Rossio,...

This is a small guest house in Rossio station area. A few steps from many restaurants and public transports. The room arte for a single room was 42€ breakfast included. There is free wifi in the lobby but not in the room.

Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighbourhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!
