This place was run by a family and we got the services we needed (a convenient place for two night's sleep). Their English was good and provided baggage storage on the date we left. Unfortunately while we were there in February the location across the street was undergoing construction so the crew starts at 7AM. The breakfast was basic but...

This hotel ticks all the boxes if you want to travel but don't want it to cost an arm and leg! I will give 5+ stars for cleanliness and also helpfulness of staff, everyone is just trying their best to offer their best customer service. Some countries tourists are used to higher standards however I think this is a normal...

You can't call it hotel not even motel its pretty old broken and highly unprofessional place. Runs by family, very very basic room. the only attraction is location. Do not go for it. You can get better place for the same or less cost. Overpriced. Breakfast is a joke with old eggs and bread. I would never go for it.

Dear Madam, I am happy to inform you that in December 2016 we were reclassified by the Lisbon County Council (CML) and by the Tourism Board (Turismo de Portugal) the category of Hotel. Fact is that we did meet all their requirements. We do not work to be perfect but do our best to try and help all our Customers...

I went to Lisbon for 3 nights and stayed here. When going to a Hotel, it has to be clean and quiet. This is the most important to me and I got it here. Staff very friendly and helpful. The location is perfect as well. I will definitely stay here again!

For a relatively low price we were getting a nice room, friendly service from the staff and a perfect HQ in the heart of Lisbon (just a couple minutes from the coast) to our sightseeing trips. Highly recommended.

It takes 3-7 minutes to get to the main squares (Rossio, Figuera, Restauradores), train and tram stations (im 28), cheap caffes and shops. The room is cleaned daily, no odours in toilet. The room is equipped with individual air-condition. There is a modern elevator, so no matter at what floor your room is. The receptionists are friendly, polite and helpful....

Stayed 3 nights at the Portuense pensão. We chose this place because of the location close to the central area of Lisbon. The place is clean, quiet (double glazed rooms) with friendly and helpful staff A free breakfast was an additional bonus and it was a continental breakfast with bread cheese etc Plenty of good location restaurants nearby, try La...

The street looks like a war zone, with broken pavements and demolition sites all around, but don't let this put you off. It is, in effect, a very up and coming area - hence all the building work - and Pensao Portuense has a location most hotels would give their right arm for, just one block back from Praca dos...

First stayed at this hotel in 2001, and this was our third time. This time with friends and we had an amazing time. Centrally located, clean, friendly and family owned. We all enjoyed our stay and will stay again. Walking distance to Metro, shopping, restaurants and entertainment.

Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighbourhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!
