This is an old art deco cinema which has been converted to a hotel. We didn't stay in the hotel but discovered it has a wonderful rooftop bar on the 7th floor with terrific views across the city day and night. Its a great place for a coffee during the day or for a coffee/night cap after your evening meal...

This was my second stay on business. Both times for 2 nights and both have been a good experience. Lisbon is a lovely city, lots of history, great weather and wonderful food. The hotel is very conveniently located for nightlife (up the hill in Bairro Alto), shopping, and seeing the sights. There is a metro stop right outside (Restauradores on...

We were so disappointed with this place. My wife and I started our holiday in The Azores in a 3 star hotel, which was wonderful, then a 4 star hotel which was good and finally here in Lisbon, which was awful. The room was supposed to be self catering. If you cooked in the room then everything smelt of the...

Fantastic hotel Right in the centre of Lisbon - opposite Hard Rock Cafe. 1.35 Euro, 20 minute bus journey from Airport (44 or 45) - stops right outside Hotel Pool looked lovely but was cold in Feb Didn't try breakfast - it was 7.50 Euros but there were loads of cheap cafes nearby. We stocked up with food and had...

Great location: the #91 Aerobus (3C=) from the airport stops right in front; there's a Pingo Doce grocery store around the corner which makes it possible to prepare your own meals in the well-outfitted little kitchen, and a metro stop is right in front too. Very good value. Only quibble: wish the AC was colder.

Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighbourhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!

“A lot of the rooms don't have an unobstructed view. Ask for a front-facing room on one of the upper floors for the best chance of great views.”
