I've never really thought about going to Lisbon, but when my daughter was holidaying there a few weeks ago and started sending through photos and details of her experience, I became intrigued and booked a long weekend. The One Palacio de Anunciada was an absolute joy! Around 25 mins drive from the airport (only 14 euros in an Uber - Uber is ridiculously cheap in Lisbon!) and located in a really quaint and characterful side street, yet no more than five minutes walk from the bustling hub of Lisbon with its fascinating architecture, mosaics, trams and fantastic food in one direction and the grandness of it in the other. I immediately noticed a beautiful aroma in the hotel as we arrived. The hotel feels grand, yet intimate, modern, yet at the same time has an old-fashioned elegance. It was dressed really tastefully with pumpkins for Halloween and with all sorts of interesting artwork and sculptures in the various ground floor sitting areas with a huge modern bookcase as well. The courtyard is lovely although we didn't really have the weather to enjoy it - nor the pool. Definitely a good excuse to go back in warmer months! The bar lounge itself isn't much to write home about - perhaps a little lacking in character in terms of layout and ambience, but this is perhaps due to the courtyard being used more in season as opposed to out of season when we were there. It was comfortable enough though and the excellent bar staff and service certainly made up for anything lacking in the fabric of the room! The room was very nice and beautifully attended to every day when we were out. I would have loved to have perhaps been up higher with a view, and we could hear a hum from the air conditioning units during the night, but as we were out most of the time, it wasn’t a deal-breaker. Lots of sumptuous towels, luxurious bathrobes, slippers in beautiful net bags and loads of complimentary products. The body wash and shampoo in the shower were fab! The water, Nespresso capsules etc.. were replenished every day (complimentary) and the room service we had one night wasn't bad at all. The bed was huge and comfortable and I keep meaning to get in touch with the hotel to find out what the bed linen was, as it was like sleeping amongst the clouds it was so soft! The staff were friendly, welcoming, courteous and really helpful - from the reception staff, to the Bellboys (not sure what they're actually called these days!) to Fernando in the bar who was absolutely lovely and a true professional. There was another bar man who appeared to be working under Fernando who was also lovely and exuded a really calm and professional, yet friendly manner. The whole place just had a really relaxed, yet special feel. We would definitely go back. Obrigado!

Hotel's Favourite
Above all our expectations, is a good summary of what the four of us in the family have felt here from the first moment until departure. There is nothing to object to or demand, which can be said to be exceptional. Admittedly, the meaning of details is different for different people, but none of us have done anything but enjoy right through the entire stay. What is so good then? We start with the location, unbeatable on a street inside the large boulevard that goes down to the water. So central, but no disturbing sounds at all. An oasis in the middle of the city! In addition, the narrow Ruas das Portas de Santo Antao is very nice with lot's of restaurants. You are close to a number of sights worth seeing, such as the castle and the tram ride with the 28th. The hotel itself is beautiful in a discreet way, it exudes modern design in a preserved older building. The staff, each and every one, are worthy of great praise with their friendly, serviceminded manner that appeals. The rooms! Wonderful beds, wide and comfortable and very nice interior decor. The pool area is a pure pleasure as is the restaurant in the beautiful courtyard. The chef and his team receive a special praise for their good and beautifully laid out food. We have in fact chosen to stay at the hotel for a few nights and eat, it's so good! We can continue to praise everything with this hotel, and it is the whole that makes it so good. For what is a beautiful exterior if the interior and staff does not follow the same standard? We have fallen in love with Lisbon, and to a large extent it is of course the hotel's merit. If we come back soon? Already sitting and planning the next trip.

I stayed in the hotel for 4 nights and had very nice stay. The hotel has beautiful interiors and cosy rooms. Entire space smelled beautifully ! My room however had some leaks on the wall and needs refreshing up . The food at the breakfast was delicious and plenty ! However salad of asparagus was a bit of a joke. I got one asparagus cut in half and half of cherry tomato. Important to point out is that one could order two of these salads. These were included in the breakfast price. The most disappointing was that yet another hotel does not recognise single customers and charge them price for double room and double breakfast. A discount for single breakfast would be at least expected.

A Beautiful hotel and super location. The interiors are stunning feel very palatial but with a modern twist. The rooftop pool area was a great place to hangout after a long day sightseeing. Loved the breakfast! Super service on the whole (a bit slow at times).

We booked 5 nights at “The One” in Lisbon for our second only break since Covid. It seemed to tick all our boxes. New or newly refurbished boutique hotel, pool, gym and outdoor area. We arrived to be greeted by a very friendly reception guy who told us our room was ready. He then said without prompting that if we wrote a good review and they could check it first then they would give us a free bottle of wine. He laughed and called this Portuguese blackmail! Well as a lawyer, I don’t do blackmail, and nor do I write unfair reviews. In any event, we were shown to our room, which was very small with a tiny window on the top floor. When I booked the room, we booked a “deluxe”, which was one up from the “Cosy” Room. Both of which are shown and described on the hotel website. We went back down to reception to tell them that the room we were given was not a deluxe room and that it was a small room and not as described on the website. The reception guy said this was not possible as there was only one category of room shown on the website. Well as you can see from the link, this is not true, but the receptionist was adamant we were wrong. In any event, voila, he found us a deluxe room which was very nice. That whole episode with the room and being asked or bribed over our review however left a very bad taste. On the first night we got a nice room refresh before bed, which never materialised for the next two nights, so no towel refresh or tea and coffee top ups. Although the hotel were adamant we did get the refresh! Oh well maybe the customer isn’t always right! Otherwise, on the positives, great pool and outdoor restaurant and staff, all lovely and no complaints. The gym was small but perfectly formed and always empty - even better in Covid times. The spoiler however came on the third day when we came back from a walk to settle in to our sun beds for the rest of the day to find our things removed and indeed all outdoor areas cleared and closed to hotel guests for a wedding party that we had not been told about. All outdoor areas were closed for the rest of the day and evening with loud music until 11.30 despite having the windows tightly closed in our room. We asked reception why we had not been warned on booking (only booked a week before) or when we checked in or by a note under the door, all of which are normal behaviour. All the reception staff could say, was that they told all people checking in that day. Not good enough! No offer of compensation (not even a bottle of wine, (which would not have been adequate in any event) but they offered to bus us by paid taxi to another hotel pool for the day. Again not good enough and the Iberostar is not anything like The One. Ultimately this was the final spoiler for our holiday.

Response from Leandro Muñoz García, Director General at The One Palacio da Anunciada
Responded 20 Oct 2021
Good afternoon from Lisbon, Thank you very much for your feedback about your stay at The One Palácio da Anunciada. We've verified some of the facts in your review, and my team was extremely helpful trying to acommodate your requests. As and old Palace from the 18th Century, indeed all our units at our property are different in shape, views, etc. We did offer you a Deluxe room in first place (same area with a different distribution and views). After your feedback we were kind to offer you other option you liked better. With regards our complimentary dailty amenities, they are all described in detail in our website. Some of them do not have top up service during the day. Once again, my team was exteremely helpful to satisfy your request. Indeed the outdoor pool was privatized one day of your stay. The information was available for every client (you were informed personally during your check in process) and we did offer you an option to visit another five stars hotel in Lisbon to enjoy a "day at the pool" that you rejected to use. As published in our website and fact sheet, our outdoor pool and pool bar offers seasonal service May to September, so that's whay this event was confirmed on the 2nd of October 2021 and the outdoor pool was not available. So even though some information in your review is not very accurate, we do thank you for your time and we will do a great effort to keep improving and mantaining our Customer Service of Excellence, so we hope to your next visit so we can show you all our improvements. With best regards,
