Believe me. This is the best hostel in Lisbon. Everything is made for guests. Location is great with access to any public transportation. Staff is very friendly, but not excessively friendly, and they take time for guests even for chat if not busy. Atmosphere is very relaxing and good to have some break from active central Lisbon. Its building is...

The staff were very welcoming and extremely helpful. The common space was easy to hang out in. Rossio is conveniently located. Breakfast was quite good. Accommodations were comfortable and clean. Only downside was the noise from street and the stairs to climb.

Rossio Hostel is a little hard to find at first but once you know where it is you will be fine. The freshly cooked breakfast (crepe or eggs) is a great start to the day. The rooms are clean and spacious but could do with a few more fans during summer. The showers are ok, the water is hot and...

We were in the 3 guest suite beautiful spacious room with a great view, wifi works great, 2 individual bathroom with toilet, shower and blow dryer in our floor which was very convenient and they were always clean and well stocked. It is noisy as the garbage truck passes every night at about 2am and street noise, but earplugs helped...

The location is awesome. But that is about it. Showers are grungy, and curtains fell down and never got fixed for the 3 nights I was there. Also, one of the lockers in our room was broken and wasn't fixed. The room was very hot as well! Like couldn't sleep hot. Young girl who cooked breakfast in the morning was...

Hostel is nice and location is awesome! It's located on the main square so it's very convenient. Breakfast is good. The only bad thing are the stairs!! They have no elevator so be prepared to carry all things like 4 floors up!

There are several quality hostels to choose from in Lisboa. I chose the Rossio for the location and for the quality service from the first e-mail for information. Location... Right on Rossio Square. Central and perfect for walking everywhere. Alfama is just across the Square and up the hill to the Castle. Barrio Alto just up the hill behind, Baixa...

Very nice place, cosy, and very friendly staff organizing activities in the evening. The breakfast is just great (with pancakes or scrambled eggs cooked on demand) and included in the price ! We were staying in a room for 2 people with a king-size bed. The common area is very cosy. The location is perfect, you can walk to all...

Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighbourhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!
