We stayed three nights at Rossio and we very much enjoyed the stay. The view from our two bed room was fantastic as was the breakfast: scrambled eggs and pancakes!!! The best breakfast I ever had at a hostel. The room and the shared bathroom were clean and well equipped. All staff we met was very friendly and helpful concerning...

I stayed one night in a dorm, and 6 nights with my girlfriend in a twin-private room. The dorm was clean, and the beds were firm but comfy. Every bed had a private locker (with provided pad-lock) and a small vault. It could take all my stuff (although locking didn't feel necessary). The bathrooms and showers were good; clean and...

There's good reason the Rossio has been given top awards so often. The location is perfect right on the main plaza and despite this is still relatively quiet. The staff is friendly, very knowledgeable and really helpful. There was some confusion with my booking so I was upgraded to a single room which was a real treat after 5 months...

I stayed in a 6 bed mixed dorm that got really warm at night and very noisy from the wee hours of the morning, with the noise of the rubbish collection truck! the room was definitely clean, good locker space but a bit crammed otherwise. The hostel is squaky clean, including bathrooms and showers. Very nice common area to chill...

An old beautiful building, downtown, well located. Big apartment, nice breakfast, with a lady cooking fresh toasts, waffles and eggs. Third floor with narrow stairs, without lift. Bathroom in the corridor. Very clean.

Believe me. This is the best hostel in Lisbon. Everything is made for guests. Location is great with access to any public transportation. Staff is very friendly, but not excessively friendly, and they take time for guests even for chat if not busy. Atmosphere is very relaxing and good to have some break from active central Lisbon. Its building is...

The staff were very welcoming and extremely helpful. The common space was easy to hang out in. Rossio is conveniently located. Breakfast was quite good. Accommodations were comfortable and clean. Only downside was the noise from street and the stairs to climb.

Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighbourhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!
