My aunt and I spent a weekend in Lisbon and we stayed here because we found a really cheap flight+hotel deal. Of course it's cheap--it's falling apart. We had room 102. Luckily, there wasn't any weird smell or mold as others have stated. The room was dry, with three twin beds, an ancient TV, and no electrical outlets anywhere. The...

When we were on are way to the hotel we were saying that it was going to be horrible but once we got there ... It was good! I'm not saying it's a 5 star hotel (and it is old etc) I'm just saying that it's was clean, safe, and the staff were really nice.if your looking for a cheap hotel that's...

Good location, good price, very clean, staff nice, but old building. The wi-fi is ok, but the tv not always work. The room was ok but very old. The acoustic is the worst part. Parking around is dificult. The Metro (Restauradores) is very close and the "Elevador da Glória" also.

I've never given anybody a bad review before, but this place is a dive. We rented a full apartment for the same price using Airbnb in the same city. The rooms are small, claustophobic. Exposed wiring in the bathroom. The gentleman at the front desk was nice, but I've never even stayed in a youth hostel as grungy as this....

The rooms are very small but the location is very good. The staff was ok, nothing to say, and the room was clean. The walls are tiny so we can hear the people next door. For the price is a good option. Nice place to stay 2 nights maximum.

Choose this hotel with easyjet holidays. To be honest I didn't care about the quality of the hotel as I was looking for good location. Staff was ok... Not impressed but I expected low budget for the price. I literally slept there and popped in for a quick change while exploring the city.

Oh man, where do I start? This place is basically a dump. The building was dilapidated. The room was sizable, but drab. No decor to speak of. The bed has thin, saggy mattress, and it smells musky. But everything works, though: the lights, the tiny tv, the hot water, etc. I found no issue with cleanliness, but I wore my...

The hotel we booked had a water issue and they moved us here. We would not have stayed except that we have paid for 2 nights already at the other hotel. It was very basic and not very comfortable. The doors to the balconies did not lock properly and you could hear street noise all night . The building is...

Our room had a mouldy smell and walls had moulds. Damp was everywhere, after the night the newspaper which was left on the commode near the bed became damp! The wardrobe had a nasty smell, I did not risk to put my clothes in it. I am happy that I had to spend only one night in this hotel.

To say staying here is slumming it is an understatement. Never stayed anywhere as bad as this before. Will never trust a friend to book my accommodation again. Suspect wiring in the bathroom, Dodgy water taps and shower, not all the lights were working. The décor was totally substandard, and the bedding grubby. When we got home after 2 nights...

Staying in Chiado & Carmo

Neighbourhood Profile
Chiado & Carmo
The traditionally trendy "Chiado" (literally, "squeak", the nickname of a 16th century poet) offers plenty of cafes, restaurants and bars where you can stop for a cafe or cocktail, after exploring its streets, shops, art galleries, theaters, museums and viewpoints. It's also the home to the statue of the famous statue of portuguese poet Fernando Pessoa, having is usual espresso at "A Brasileira" as he used to. You can also enjoy breathtaking views of Lisbon from the Elevador de Santa Justa or the Carmo Convent, for example. A commercial neighborhood at its core, especially for its Garrett and Carmo streets, Chiado is to this day a mandatory visit in Lisbon.
