We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Alvorada. Our family room was huge! The hotel is clean, the location is perfect and the staff are very friendly. Extra care given due to Covid-19 pandemic, just as anywhere else in Portugal.

This hotel is relatively inexpensive compared to other hotels located in downtown Lisbon. The train ride from Lisbon to Estoril is about 25 minutes and then you are 5 minutes away from the train station to your hotel. There are several restaurants near the hotel. There is a huge casino in front of the hotel but it was very quiet during our stay. The hotel offers an alternative for those interested in a quiet evening after a hard day walking through Lisbon since it is not located in the city center. In addition, you can go for a nice walk along the beach and get to Cascais, which is a beautiful town located only a few kilometers north of Estoril. There are many interesting places to see in Cascais as well as many good restaurants.

Stayed for 9 nights in March 2011. Hotel is ideally situated for transport link to Lisbon.
Railway Station is about 5 minutes walk away. When there the trains were on strike a couple of times and apparently there is no bus service to Lisbon( according to the tourist info. office).
The few Restaurants in the locality are in my opinion of poor quality and pricey, maybe due to the proximity of the Casino.
The best Restaurants we found are in Cascais which is a pleasant 15-20 min stroll along the Seafront. There is plenty of choice and prices range to suit all pockets.

There is a limited menu of meals at the Alvorada but we cannot vouch for there quality as we never ate there, apart from the Breakfast which is pretty much continental plus scrambled eggs and a saveloy type sausage.

Stayed with wife for one week in April 2013.
The hotel is a short walk from the railway station which makes reaching it from Lisbon Airport quite easy. For the return we took a taxi (very early flight) at a cost of around 50 euros. A bit expensive so, if your flight times are reasonable, use the bus or metro from the airport to Cais de Sodre and then the train.
The hotel overlooks the casino and we had asked for a room on the 4th floor facing the casino which afforded us fine views and morning sunshine.
Breakfast is the usual continental (bread, preformed ham, cheese, hot frankfurter style sausages and eggs, etc.) and was perfectly adequate.
The room was large and kept very clean by the staff.
Overall, the staff were very friendly and helpful although as seasoned visitors to this area we didn't need much help.
There is a bar but it does not serve alcoholic drinks (there are plenty of bars and restaurants in Estoril or a 30 minute walk away in Cascais (walk along the seafront). But do try their very good hot chocolate drinks! There is no pool but the beach and a public pool is 5 minutes away by the Railway Station.
Will use this hotel again.

I got this place at the last minute and booked it at excellent rates. When I got to the airport an announced it to the Taxi Driver he said, oh wow, nice!!. (However I suggest that you travel from Lisbon Airport to Estoril where the Hotel is, by Bus, As its only 20 minutes away...and it cost me 60Euro !!..ouch!!... Anyway the hotel is opposite the largest Casino I have ever seen in my life !!!... and plenty of restaurants of quality around, decently priced. The staff are impeccable and talk about cleanliness!!..wow!!.. The room was excellently decked out with a Balcony!!.. Rooms maticulously cleaned and replenished with everything!!... However no kettle or beverages there!. Restaurant for brekfast very well laid out, and everything there. A great place to stay, I will certainly be going back !!

I've stayed at this hotel for 4 nights. A huge room on the 4th floor with a great seaview balcony. Clean room, which was cleaned perfectly every day. Some of the staff was friendly and helpful, others were less motivated to help. Breakfast was ok for my needs.
The hotel is right in the center of Estoril across the street of the Casino. This means bright night and rather loudish all night long and every day of the week. This didn't bother me, but probably not the right hotel if you don't sleep very deep. Second negative point for people who are sensitive to electric smog: The hotel has six cellphone antennas on its rooftop.
I've booked the hotel through Tripadvisor/hotels.com and the great deal made the hotel good value for money. Recommendation therefore depending of the price one pays.

When we booked the hotel we requested a non smoking room because I was in 6th month pregnant. When we arrived there they only had smoking rooms available. Even after some negotiations they were not willing to give another room. So we had to find another hotel for a much higher price. On top of that they charged us € 85 cancelation fee. Do I have to say more… ?

Just returned from our second two weeks at the Alvorada. We enjoyed our stay so much last year that we decided to return. It was good seeing familiar faces, the Manager, Jose and the dining room Manager, Americo. Also, Elizabeth and Olga on reception. They were so helpful. The Hotel has changed over the past year, with more groups coming in from Spain and France. However, the only problem was breakfast and finding a place to sit. We were used to not using the "bar" or having meals so it didn't bother us. But if having groups is going to be the norm, the bar and dining room service should also include the rest of the guests. We enjoyed walking along the boardwalk or taking the train into Cascais to enjoy the many restaurants or visiting the little snack bar down the street from the hotel called Jackpot where Luis was always ready to suggest something good to eat.

The use of the internet is definitely a problem and should be addressed as most people want to keep in touch with family, friends or business. Free access should be available in the lobby area. Otherwise, the past reviews tell the rest. It's a great hotel for the money, and we'll be back next year.

There is no refrigerator in the room, and if you want a room with sea vieuw, you have to ask a room on the higher floors ( 3th or 4th floor) It is just a 10 mniutes walk to the beaches.
