Stayed the night mostly to try the restaurant. It's a very short trip from Lisbon. I was there in August, but still, it was very very very very.... windy. The fortress is gorgeous and so was my balcony room, but to be honest, you could not use the balcony. The views are breathtaking, if you can stand the wind. I am repeating myself, but it is what it is. The outdoor patio was nonetheless very pleasant and somehow protected. The restaurant is superb. the wine selection is out of this world. The setting is unique. Service is excellent. But the one night stay was quite enough for me.

Fortaleza do Guincho is the perfect costal hideaway—just a short hop from Lisbon. I love the slightly remote location, the hotel‘s intimate size—and the absolute focus on quality. Rooms are very characteristic for a Fortress—you pretty much feel like entering a different century. Yet all amenities are of the highest standard. Quality, all around, is exceptional. The service is friendly and diligent. All members of staff appear proud to work here. Attention to detail is high. The hotel features a Michelin Star restaurant with an amazing view (recommendation). But food in all outlets is excellent. At the time of my visit the hotel had implemented an excellent Covid-regime, strictly followed by all staff (and most guests-the rest were kindly reminded). They have a small terrace here, open to non residents, where you can get lunch and drinks. It has a fantastic view over the bay. We stopped here on a bike ride from Cascais. The staff were lovely, and the beers were not expensive.

We had the pleasure to spend 3 nights here in early September during which I had my birthday, one I will never forget. The hotel staff made me feel so special and left a kind gift in our room on the day, it was very touching. It exceeded every expectation we had of a 5* hotel from the quality of service through to the food and drink. Eating in the restaurant one evening is a must (if you can), and the location is great for days at the beach and quality seafood restaurants nearby. We are desperate to return one day! Thank you to the excellent staff for making it an exceptional experience.

In order to enjoy the view and to have a balcony we strongly recommend you to get a Junior Suite with an open balcony.
We are 10 minutes away from Cascais, 20 to 30 minutes from Sintra ( an UNESCO World Heritage ) and 30 minutes away from Lisbon and Lisbon International airport ( always driving ).
We will be more than happy to call you a taxi or a private English speaking driver to discover the region, any time you need it.

It is 7 Km. Easy cab but the hotel gives you bikes. We watched movies there in the beach and then enjoyed dinner and drinks on an amazing roof top bar!

Hotel Fortaleza do Guincho is located just in front of the beach where you can swim, but for the ones who do not fell very confident in the ocean, 15 minutes way you can find a beach where the ocean is really calm.

Dear Alberta,
I am really sorry for my late answer, but I did not realise that we did not answer to your question.
I am afraid the Hotel is built is a fortress from the XVII century without space to have a fitness centre, but we are located just in front of the beach in a very quite area where you can go out and run; beside we do have a special agreement with a club close by us where they have a fitness centre.
