We arrived by lunch time to check in. There's no car park but we were advised where to put our car by the staff and it didn't prove a problem. The town is amazing and we wandered about and got a feel for the place. We ate out in a local square listening to a jazz concert and watching the...

Stayed in Astoria for 1 night. As previously mentioned, there are no better locations in Coimbra. The building is nice and the stuff is friendly and very helpful. Breakfast was not bad either. Parking lot across the road is full most of the time, but there are quite a few alternative locations. I managed to park across the street, but...

My OH and I stayed here for 1 night last week. The hotel oozed old school charm - it's a beautiful building with stunning period furniture. We were in Room 409 which is on the top floor, effectively in the corner of the building. The room was large and spacious with 2 small balconies and even another small balcony off...

Ever since I was a child I loved the look of this hotel. It is beautiful and has always stood out in mind. In 2006 I finally got my chance to stay here with my husband. We were very lucky to be put in one of the front rooms on the 3rd or 4th floor so our view was magnificent...

The hotel has an ''old world charm'' and all the furniture and fittings hark back to the thirties. All the public rooms could be out of a Noel Coward play, and the bedrooms are very quaint. We enjoyed our stay in Coimbra and the hotel is in an excellent location, but both the restaurant and the bar in the hotel...

We have just returned from a winter trip to Portugal. During our stay in Coimbra, we stayed at the Hotel Astoria. We had a wonderful time. We had booked 4 rooms and were pleased to find that each one was different - one had a separate "sitting" room. One had an entry room. Fun and kinda funky. The hotel is...

The location just near the pedestrian precint is the only good thing! The liberty style is charming but this means old furniture and dusty tapestry. the walls are so thin that you can hear avery noise in the corridor and other rooms!!! At least they don't have a garage so you can use the pubblic park in front of the...

While driving to Coimbra from Aveiro, we phoned the hotel (recommended by the Michelin guide) to make the reservations. We wanted to know if they had parking (they said there were three places at the door of the hotel) and laudry service (they said they did , and that we will have our clothes ready in 24 hours). The price...

It's an art nouveau-art deco masterpiece with the romance and grace of a different century. Yes, the carpets are old. Yes, the rooms are creepy. Yes, there is absolutely no evidence that it is not 1923 and you are not Harriet Vane and Lord Peter Whimsey just motored down from Oxford to solve a murder in the medieval cloisters. So...
