Located in the very center of Evora (just down the cathedral) this pensão is a mix of history, romantic charm and some noir feeling. Room and corridors makes you perspire the atmosphere of hundred years ago. It's not for luxury lovers. Is for people seeking for emotional traveling. We definitively loved this place even if, especially the bathroom would need... More

We had a good stay at the Pensao Policarpo. It is ideally located inside the Evora city walls, and a very short walk to all of the major sites. They have a rather small parking lot, with no additional charge for it. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was very basic, and the furniture (somewhat) charmingly mismatched and... More

A unique place a very short walking distance to all the sights of the city. It is not the classiest place to stay but with free carparking and a basic breakfast it's great value for the budget conscious traveller. The bed is not the softest and the shower very small providing a challenge to wash. You can get a great... More

The place is quaint and the people were lovely. However I think the first priority of a hotel should be a restful night. The mattress was so hard it was like a slab of wood. I tossed and turned and awoke with aches. Why would a hotel provide such poor sleeping accommodations?

This is a quaint Pensione hidden round the back streets of Evora, but does have limited private car parking. The facilities were quite basic, you could only get wifi in designated areas and the nearby church bells chimed every quarter of an hour including all through the night.

This enchanting historic building from the 1700's was built as the summer residence of a count and is located right in the heart of the old city. Eighty years ago it became the first hotel in Guimaraes. It's confusing maze of halls, stairs and common areas makes it a delightful place to wander and photograph. The breakfast was good and... Our room at Pension Policarpo was basic, just what you'd expect from a 16th-century building turned into an inn. Charming greeting, fine breakfast, free parking (once you can find it). The breakfast room was festooned with paintings of the town, inspiring my wife to seek out and purchase an original. Bathrooms were down the hall, which was not an inconvenience... More

We stayed here for one night while visiting Evora. It's an 18th century converted home and owned by a local family. The room was very traditional and basic so if you're looking for something pristine and fancy, this is not the place for you. However, we found it very charming and really neat to stay inside an old wealthy family... More

It was a very enthusiastic welcome, so I felt very comfortable. Staff was very professional, friendly, and helpful. Breakfast was good especially with bonus of outdoor terrace. Building was VERY old, historical and had great character and charm. Lots of good stores and restaurants nearby. Only snag was that Wi-fi was iffy because of the very thick walls,

This is a stunning building close to the centre of Evora with parking (tho to park is a challenge that once done you are best to leave your car till you leave the city!). reception staff were charming and helpful, our room was spacious and comfortable, and the whole building is full of art from previous art competitions held in... Official Description (provided by the hotel)
PENSÃO Residencial POLICARPO occupies a building dating from the end of the 16th century, which was in earlier times the manor house of the Counts of Lousã.This noble house has an imposing principal façade which faces south, and thus offers an impressive panorama over the Alentejan plain. On the other side, the house opens on to a small patio, giving direct access to the reception.A very visible architectural feature is the fact that the house bestrides the ancient Roman wall. These elements, together with the fact that the Counts of Lousã’s manor house has provided hotel accommodation for over 70 years under the direction and management of the POLICARPO family, who has always emphasized a familiar ambiance and conviviality, based on the authenticity of this special place. ... more   less
