Never ever had imagined that we will have such wonderful experience .. I have been eying this property past few years but our impromptu decision to visit Amritsar keeping Punjabiyat in mind sealed our trip. All the reviews have written enough good about the property and I am only 1 addition to it... Good people Good food Above all fantastic location which takes us urban centric people in Mideast of fields.. All the best to you guys..
Punjabiyat is a property just a few KM from Amritsar and is easily accessible. One can also land in Chandigarh and take the Chandigarh-Jalandhar-Gurdaspur highway and reach the property in 4 hours. Once you reach the property you are greeted by there extremely courteous staff. Here I would like to thank Gulzar Sahab and Gagan whom now I don't treat as staff members but as friends. there are just four rooms or kothis in the entire property and as I went with a family of 9, I booked all the four rooms. the rooms are spacious and comfy but it was the bathroom which caught my attention. The brass buckets and the retro lotas truly gave me a feel of the village. the food was splendid and cooked in heavy butter and cream..... but then again this is Punjab. I recommend that everyone visits this wonderful property in the October- march time to experience the chilly weather of the north. Nearby attraction or activities include Chota Gallugarha and molasses factory. Cycles are also available in this property and so are tractor rides. as it was cold, I missed the tubewell bath thence shall definitely be back to complete this unfinished assignment.…
If you are looking for an authentic rural Punjabi experience this is the place for you. Just don’t tell anyone! A wonderful rustic retreat situated off a tree lined lane, in the middle of surrounding fields of rice, wheat and sugar cane. The hum of tractors and Bhangra music hang faintly in the air during the frantic activity of harvest time. It is a place to relax and unwind, whilst experiencing the thrill of living the simplicity of a rural life. There is much to discover either by foot, bicycle or even tractor. The people, the colours, the food are a heady mix. The food is a real exploration through traditional Punjabi fare, fresh, authentic and out of this world, all served either under the trees, in the rustic dinning room or even on the roof terrace overlooking the beauty of the surrounding countryside. Poignantly the Sikh Holocaust Memorial Chhota Ghallughara and Guruduwara are just a short walk away and offer an insight into the turbulent history of these agricultural lands. The surrounding area buzzes with the proud activity of cottage industries, including rice milling, jaggery production amongst others. The four cottages are simple, and tastefully designed with some beautiful individual touches. The veranda provides the perfect place to sip chai, read and take in the surrounding nature. The staff, headed by Jagdeep Singh, are friendly and welcoming and always ready to help you in whatever way they can. Nothing is too much trouble and ensure you feel well looked after. Overall I can’t recommend Punjabiyat highly enough if you are looking for an insight into life in Punjab or just a short break from the realities of the modern world. I for one, will be back as soon as I can. …
We booked this place to take a break from the current madness during Covid times. This place delivered at all our expectations; the property is set in the middle of nowhere in a village, Gurdaspur. It takes you to the well made, 4 standalone mud house cottages with a proper social distance. Not only that, they took utmost care by following all the Covid protocols right from sanitizing the surroundings as well as the cottages to wearing masks and maintaining proper distance. The thing that this place apart from similar properties is the excellent hospitality by their local staff. A special thanks to Mr.Jagdeep ho took care of us very well. Food was also above our expectations, the best part is, the chef takes personal requests and delivers them to perfection according to our mood for the day. Our only regret is that we stayed for just 3 days :( We would love to visit again!…
I couldn't believe the place when I saw it...Punjabiyat is simply incredibly beautiful. Peaceful, serene, and with the right mix of home and resort. Everyone from Mr Pandey who met us at Amritsar airport and drove us to Punjabiyat, to Mr Jagdeep, the Manager, to every single person who cared for us made this the best holiday we have had in a long, long time. One of the 'activities' Punjabiyat offers is 'just chilling' and this is what we needed and what we did. Spent all the time either strolling around, or sitting in the sit-out, or lounging on the charpai, or going up to the chhatt. Fields as far as the eye could see made this a wonderful setting for the well-appointed and super-comfortable cottages. As for the food----where would one get such good food so caringly cooked and served?! Right from bed tea to dinner, we felt pampered. The resort has a library and it is in such a beautiful setting that one was tempted to spend a lot of time here. There is also a lovely lounge where one could relax and play carrom or cards. The gunman - you would not like to meet him in the dark - made us feel safe. It is the complete opposite of a bustling city life - so quiet and so calm....just the kirtans from the local Gurudwara filing the air and adding to the sense of peace. On the last day we did the local sights---on a tractor!!!!!!!!! Incredible!!!!!! I just don't have enough words to tell you about Punjabiyat. Just go there at the first opportunity......…
We visited the property on 15th Feb 2020 ( during our wedding anniversary). It was really a great experience visiting Punjabiyat. We experienced real punjabi culture. Food was awesome and hospitality was great . I would like to recommend everyone must visit the place:)
We stayed for 2 nights at Punjabiyat in Oct2019 and it was wonderful experience. It is located right in the middle of dense farmlands and you can see lush green farming as far as your eyes can. They have given the rooms a nice village house touch and it would appeal to city-dwellers right away. To lie down at the charpoy in front of your room, watching crops, birds chirping and an occasional motorbike trudging in distance- everything is just tailor-made for you! :-) There is a small Gurudwara closeby (3 kms), and it was just perfect to complete the rural set-up. This Gurudwara dates back some 300-400 years. The resort had bicycles and we had such a fun time riding them in and out of the farms. We rode our bicycles to the Gurudwara and had a great time attending kirtan and having langar. Their Manager is a genteel sikh who makes you feel important and keeps the conversation going. As expected, they had a Tube-well going and we had great fun bathing in there. Food was very delicious, but may not be authentic Punjabi. Visit to the near by village can be left for the foreigners, for obvious reasons :-) Mind you, it is an expensive place, so you better be prepared for shelling out good money, but the experience is surely worth it! Drive from and to Delhi is quite nice.…
Amazing stay , amazing hospitality. In the middle of nowhere exists this beautiful property, the cottages are spacious with interesting design, the bathroom is way too luxurious and gives a village feel. The best part is the food , the chef takes personal requests and delivers them to perfection. Had an amazing time
We had a wonderful stay at this resort. The food was very good and the cottage we stayed in was charming. Mr Jagdeep brought us around the village by tractor and he was so kind and informative. Everyone was caring and it was terrific to have a chance to stay in a rural area during our two week India vacation.
A unique farm stay experience. Enjoy it thoroughly. Personal attention by the team that runs it. Specially Gulzar Singh who took personal care of us. Food is completely organic from the farm and made to your order and taste. Only 4 cottages that are very clear, self sufficient with attached (clean) bathrooms. Really awesome and highly recommended for those wanting to disconnect from hectic city life.
