Hotel Alegria is well located near the centre of Brugge. Behind an unassuming door is a warm and welcoming hotel that provides all the comforts of home. Without being intrusive, Veronique's attention to detail ensures that all is well. Her breakfasts, from the freshly squeezed orange juice, to the individually cooked eggs to the divine bread, pastries and hot coffee...

We really enjoyed our stay at the Alegria and in Bruges. Veronique is very proud of her home city and justifiably so. There is not much she does not know and is willing to share her knowledge and some family experiences. She personally prepares and serves the best continental breakfast we have seen. Everything fresh and appetising. The room, and...

This was our second stay in Bruges but our first at hotel Alegria. We were warmly welcomed by Veronique and her mother and given lots of useful information about the town and places to see. We were kindly offered help with our luggage which doesn't seem to happen much these days! Our room was on the first floor and overlooked...

This hotel was in a perfect location on a small street close to the main square. The room was very comfortable and had a cottage-like flair to it. I was absolutely impressed on how kind the hotel owner was. The breakfast was also AMAZING. Wouldn't mind revisting charming Brugge and this hotel!

I can't say enough about this "hotel". I wouldn't even call this a hotel because it was so personal it felt like a bed and breakfast. Everything about it was wonderful. The location couldn't have been better. The entire room was beautiful and clean. The view was lovely. The owner was kind and helpful. My stay felt so personal. I...

We are experienced travelers, sensitive to and respectful of different cultures and customs. This was our first visit to Bruges, and we are still scratching our heads trying to understand why the owner took an immediate dislike to us. We received a welcome that was lukewarm at best. Soon after our arrival a few small inconveniences arose (spotty wi-fi, no...

As soon as we walked into the hotel I felt a very unwelcoming, cold vibe from the lady, I think her name is Veronique or something. The older woman was nice but her daughter (who seems to be in charge) is very rude. She immediately gave us a hard time for asking simple questions. My sister had an important business...

The location for Hotel Alegria is perfect, just round the corner from the Markt. We had rooms overlooking the gardens at the back, which were very quiet. Good breakfasts, hotel very clean and Veronique was very helpful and friendly. When she knew that one of our friends had to have gluten-free bread, soya milk and decaffinated coffee, these were provided....

I have had the pleasure of visiting Bruges several times in the last few years - Hotel Alegria is by far the best place we have stayed, for hospitality as well as cleanliness and location. Veronique was very accommodating from the start, arranging for flowers to be delivered prior to our arrival for my wife's 30th. We arrived late in...
