Rooms were organised for us as part of a work meeting. The monastery is in the heart of Ghent. The rooms, while dated, were functional and comfortable. I thought it was a lovely and unique experience, and while not a 5 star experience, at these prices, it was excellent value for money.

a very charming authentic convent from 1200. tucked away from the streets, gardens, comfortable simple rooms. Breakfast is E17.00/p/p huge buffet selection, you can even make a sandwich snack for later! Conveniently located to all the sites walking distance. Funny little bar area that needs a bit more ambience.....Restaurant not always open.

....so things may have changed in the year since I visited, but I really liked the place. We had a large attic room as there were 6 of us.Not sure if there are more than one of these types of room but ours was set up with a couple of sofas and two beds down stairs and four beds in...

If you only wish to have a private room then this is fine. The bathroom was shared but never found it occupied. Location is 5 mins from the city centre so you do not need to spend too much time at the hotel. Main issue i had with my room was that the door had glass above it meaning that...

Great location in the centre of town. Quiet. Cheap. Not for taking the wife or a romantic weekend away but for other trips a good base. Very good breakfast available. Bar with good selection of drinks. Nice reception. Parking. Easy to find from the station with a map although will need to catch a tram first. Room is ok. Take...

The photos are of our room. This was the third room that they offered us and we were told we should be paying extra because they up graded us. My son was staying in a hostel and it looked better. We were shown photos of beautiful rooms. So to be giving this we were very disappointed. We did ask for...

What a lovely place to stay!! The location is ideal for the centre of Ghent and it a really beautiful place. We had a twin room and it was massive. The shower is excellent! The bar was lovely and quiet and a great place for a quick drink before exploring. Was a shame we were only here for 1 night....

I liked the idea of this hotel as it was unusual as it's a monastery. We booked at the last minute for a nice weekday two day break and we're disappointed when we were given a room in the annexe - rector. It was very old fashioned and not very clean. We got back quite late and had to call...

Management response:

Dear Guest, Thank you for your review. We are sorry to hear the room was not to your liking... It does not really help you if I tell you that we will renovate that particular wing, as well. As for the 15£ (18€) we have taken from your card, that will probably be the tourist tax (3€ per person, per...

We stayed at this hotel for one night with a 4 year old and a baby and loved it! The location is ideal, and even provides onsite parking (though it is an extra 15 euros). The hotel is huge and despite this, we felt like it was very quiet at night and the rooms were very spacious. The hotel provided...

Dear Guest, Thank you for your review! We are very happy to hear you had such a wonderful time in Ghent (and our hotel). As for your remarks about the renovations: indeed, a couple of months ago we have started them. Gradually we will renovate the building whilst preserving the authentic atmosphere. We wish to see you again in Gent...

If all you want is a quiet, comfortable room near the centre of Ghent, then look no further. Also very good wi-fi coverage in rooms. However, if you are treating the wife then look elsewhere. Rooms and fittings are extremely tired and in need of overhaul. Additional 17.5 euros for breakfast, addit 15 euros to park a car. If money...

Dear Guest, thanks ever so much for your review! It is an honest opinion, which is very true. We offer a unique atmosphere yet you will not find the 'red carpet' here. The breakfast may be on the expensive side, but it is also extensive and very much liked by our guests. The cost of the parking space is competitive...
